What Exactly is the handle doing when you pull on it? Does it pull easily all the way back and it doesn't spring back? Does it pull all the way with absolutely no resistance and spring back into place? Does it only pull part of the way and stop?
Pulling all the way and no spring back could be a faulty handle. Pulling and no resistance could be a loose or broken linkage. Pulling part of the way could simply be that the child safety locks are turned on. Open the door and twist the switch latch to turn them off. Both sides use the same setup.
you can look up utube vids on this problem, sometimes there can be a child safety lock system, also you can check this website for items that will help with getting the door unlocked also you can always find anything else you need here at discount prices>>www.discountbargainprices.com
the only thing that could have happened is the child safety locks are on. that is why you can not open them from the inside and the outer handles have broken . the thing to do now is to use a tool called a slim jim to open the doors . then unlock the child safety locks so you can still use the doors until outer handles are replaced.
I have the same car, same problem. I've still not been able to fix it, despite taking the inside panels off the rear doors, checking the rods were seated, applying WD-40 to the lock mechanisms, and manually working the mechanism. Child locks are not engaged, but I tried putting them on and off too. Just won't open.
Child Safety lock was attached to the door handle by a horizontal wire rod . The wire rod had rusted through at a welded join, and had to be rejoined. The rejoining was accomplished with a small clamp.
the child safty lock may be on but that wont stop you from opening it from out side,,,, it only stops kiddys from opening it from the in side,,,
i think the lock has broken?
