Use the left button on the side (the same one that turns it on), but you have to click quickly, because if you hold it down (as i did), you only get the option to change the dimensions of the magnification area.

Thanks for the responses.

When I click the button to turn it on, it magnifys behind my screen and I can see only a small strip at the righthand side of the screen. Is that clear? Its hard to explain what it does. Any suggestions for that? Thanks

Try putting your mouse on the magnifier and right clicking. You should be able to minimize or exit.

Need a diagram of Goodman heat pump showing defrost relay area

Turn the power off to the heat pump and get a magnifying glass. There is probably only one board inside the outdoor unit anyway, but look closely through the magnifying glass and you should see a set of tiny needle size pins....maybe two rows of 4 parallel pins. There should be a black plastic jumper across a set of pins corresponding to the defrost length. Near those pins and written on the board there will be something relative to defrost duration. This is why you need the magnifying glass especially if you have any trouble with close up vision.

There is probably not a setting that is adjustable for the intervals between one defrost cycle and the next as they are typically initiated not on elapsed time, but on temperature of the outdoor coil providing input to the board that defrost is necessary.

Using outlook or word with Windows 7 PC, font size will suddenly change. Why? Magnifying glass pops up, unasked, by cursor. Annoying. Why? thanx for any help

It sounds like Windows Magnifier is turned on, which is one of the tools available through the "Ease of Access Center".

To quickly exit the Magnifier (for the time-being), press the Windows key + Esc simultaneously. This key combination toggles the Magnifier on/off. (Windows key has the Windows Logo on it, usually between the left-sided "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys on typical keyboard).

To disable the Magnifier altogether:
Ensure you are logged in as an administrator or user that is a member of administrators group.
Click "Start", then click "Control Panel". Then click a blue & white icon labeled "Ease of Access Center". Look below the initial "Quick access to Common Tools" boxes at top of page, to a section called "Explore all settings". Click on the link "Make the Computer Easier To See", which brings up the section which pertains to the visual display. At the bottom of that page, there is a section labeled "Make things on the screen appear larger, below it a link, then a check box "Turn on Magnifier". Uncheck this box, and ensure nothing else on the page is checked. Click "Apply", then click "OK".

This should turn off the magnifier completely for the system. For future reference, should you ever need the Magnifier tool, you will see a small magnifying glass icon on the taskbar - click that to open the Magnifier toolbar, and you can then set how the magnifier works and where it works, and whether or not it follows mouse movement or is docked. Handy sometimes, as things on some screens can be rather difficult to read when print is especially tiny. If you have the issue of not being able to read icons or their labels on the desktop, or on the system as a whole, you can adjust this by opening "Control Panel" and then "Display" - where you can set the screen text and icon sizes to "small" "medium" or "large" to suit your needs - it's much easier and alot less annoying than Magnifyer can be - just something to keep in mind should you ever need it.

Hope this info helped you! If for some reason you have any additional problems, or get stuck, please come back and let us of luck!
