Hi,

Closed Captioning settings on your tv:
We cannot get the Closes - 7481639.jpg

The picture is probably too small to read. - IF THE PICTURE IS NOT READABLE CLICK HERE TO GET A BIGGER VERSION

And here is the documentation for your Television
http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/hitachi/42hds52a.html

or here:
http://dl.owneriq.net/7/7c18b452-d8da-4487-9b19-36b2db60544f.pdf

be patient as it may take a minute or two for the manual to open.
if you can't open the manual then you are most likely missing a pdf reader, get it from here
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ - you can get it from the free download.

let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks,
Ekse

see if you can change the options on the digital setting.

    Also NOTE:

    1. Some types of digital closed captions will not work with this TV.

    2. Caption Display will not work when viewing a 480p, 720p, or 1080i input via the
    COMPONENT connection

    3. When PIP SURF MODE is on, Closed Caption will not work.

    4. Digital Captions Font Style are sometimes different from the Font Style of Analog Captions.

    5. Closed Caption and Digital Captions availability and content depends on the broadcaster. Closed
Caption is available when Closed Caption icon is displayed on screen.

    6. Digital Captions will not be available (grayed out) when using analog channels

The Comcast set top boxes only allow 1 type of CC. However your TV is programmed to handle 4 or 5 CC features. Go into your TV menu and find your CC options there should be different ones there choice 1 you like.

Turning off close caption on xfinity tv

The Comcast boxes let you enter a special menu only when the box is turned off. Just turn off the Comcast box and press the menu button on the remote you will then see a menu for the box where you can turn on and off close captioning

I can't turn on closed captioning on Hitachi with Comcast scientific atlanta explorer 2200 cable box. Any words of wisdom?

Both the set and the box used should have the closed caption feature.

If box is in line to rear audio/video jacks you will have to engage the CC from the box.

I doubt it will work if hooked that way from within the box---go to menu and in CC area in either set or box select CC1 which is the most common one used.

How to activate "closed captioning" for a Proscan Full HD 1080P

Comcast's remote has nothing to do with closed captioning. It's on your tv remote. First, the tv has to be capable of handling closed captioning, and your's is- and second, the program must have closed captioning provided- current programs do, some older shows do not support closed captioning. Recheck your remote, and if necessary- look at the setup instructions that came with the TV- they should also be posted online at the Proscan support site.

Toshiba 62hx94 cant shut off closed caption have comcast cable How do I turn off closed caption on my TV. It suddenly turned on. can' turn off closed captioning 20" ws

The problem was with the Motorfolla Comcast cable box not my T.V. . I turned off my Comcast cable box, pressed menu on the remote to the cable box. This made a 16:9 ratio appear on the cable box's LED read out, and a bluish screen appear on my television. One of the options on my television was to turn on and off closed captioning. Therfore, I turned off closed captioning and the problem was solved.

Closed caption problem

I had the same issue... here's what I did.  If power off your cable box, then press the menu button, there's a selection to enable or disable Closed Captioning.  This works for both HD series Motorola boxes Comcast offers, at least in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.  Hope this helps!
