Question about Whirlwind FH-778 Air Conditioner

Open Question

Central a/c blows warm to hot air

Installed a new Hunter thermostat a few weeks ago. All was cool (pun intended) until yesterday when the air was warm to almost hot. Called the Hunter Fan tech line. We reset the thermostat and all was ok until about an hour ago when it started blowing warm air again.
Need advice ASAP!

Yes it is. But its not warm/hot air all the time.
We turned it off for awhile then reset the thermostat. Started blowing cold air for a short time (5-10 minutes) then warm/hot air again.
We rent--the landlady will NOT pay to have it looked at, let alone have it fixed..
Glad the temps will be cooler this coming week in SE Mi..

    Thanks for the reply..

When I was on the phone with Hunter Fan, the service tech asked about the wires. I told him what color was where and he said that was good.
I will have my husband check the wires on the furnace to make sure none are touching when we turn on the a/c

Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

The furnace is a Williamson Temp-O-Matic. I can't find anymore info on it.

Worked great last night after being off for a few days. Just tried it again and it started blowing cool air then after about 5 minutes, it started blowing warm air again.

The furnace stays on after I switch to off on the thermostat. I had to turn it off at the switch on the furnace..

some more info I found inside the furnace
    (very hard to read)
    Williamson gas-fired forced air furnace
    model 1114-10-6
    style S 51
serial D 803 9052 (first three digits month and year)
I also wrote down the wiring:

    3 screws w/wires top row:

    left--- white and yellow
    middle-- blue (green?)
    right--- black and white

    2 screws w/wires bottom row:
    left--- black and red

The white and the red wires on the left side screws come from one white wire.
The yellow, blue, white and red on the other screws all come from a different white wire. The black wires look like a split-end power cord.

I can't see where any are touching another wire. And I can't see any bare wire except around the screws.

I sure hope you can understand my description.
Thanks again for all your help.

Do you have a heat pump? Is your furnace firing up when the 'hot air' comes out? The wiring on the stat should be considered. If you have the old stat and cut the wires and left remnants of the old wires attached, you can see how it was wired. Generally on a conventional a/c system. Y or Y1 is cooling and should have a yellow wire hooked in. W or W1 is heating and should have a white wire. You should then open your air handler/furnace door and you will see where the wires are fed from the stat. Be sure they coincide with how you wired at the stat. If you have a heat pump there will also be additional wires. If this is the case re post.

Sorry to keep asking you all the questions, but I need to be sure the wiring to the furnace is correct and also the the stat. Usuall there are four wires from furnace to stat red, white, yellow(sometimes blue), green there is also a jumper wire on stat form RC to RH if you have a normal split system. Lets check the wiring and see what you have for me. Also I was asking if the burners are on when you turn ac on may have a short double check to make sure no wires are touching. also switch furnace power off while doing any wiring on low voltage or you may blow a fuse inside the furnace Need model and make of furnace and ac to better help you Thanks for your patience

check to see if furnace is coming on with ac cycle

Is the outside unit running? if so can you feel warmer than outside air blowing from outside fan? If not your system may have a leak and pressures low. You can also check the piping to and from the unit larger one should be cold small one should be warm

SOURCE: why does my air conditioner in my car blow out hot

Assuming you are not low on freon:
I have seen this symptom caused by too much moisture in the system too, it freezes near the metering device which kills the refrigeration effect which makes it warm up, the ice melts and it starts working until moisture builds up and freezes which kills the refrigeration effect again.

We put in a hunter thermostat and now our central air conditioning unit is blowing cold air with the heater on.

This means that the new thermostat is wired wrong. You did not post the make and model of the new one, the old one and possible the furnace and we need those in order to check your wiring and compatibility.

My heater will not blow hot air in my 1999 Chrysler Cirrus

When the coolant flush was done, did you have the thermostat changed as well? I would have the thermostat replaced. If the temperature gauge was reading properly, but you still had warm, not hot air, it would lean more towards the heater core being clogged, but that deosn't seem to be the issue your having, so i would go with the thermostat replacement. And whereever you have the repairs done at...make sure they fully bleed all the air out of the cooling system, this could also cause poor warm-up / heating problems. Hope this helps...

I have a 1993 Acura Ledgend. For some reason my heater does not continue to blow hot air, it does for a few minutes and then begain to blow cold air. It does this often now. It works and then it blows cold...

first check to see that you coolant level is full, check it after the engine has cooled down,so there is no pressure in the system. otherwise you possibly have a head gasket in the early stage of failure

Bought 44155c hunter thermostat air won't turn on.

If unit worked before you tryed changing t-stat then its possible the t-stat wires are shorting each other out.take t-stat back off cut back wires a good 6 to 10 inches or if you dont have that much wire to play with just cut back as far as you can and make sure there is no bare wire touching each other ,then just to test unit to make sure its working ok twist yell.,red, green together this should bring both units on and should blow cold.if this works up to this point on the new stat read directions closely there might be a jumper wire in the stat that needs connected usually from y1 to w1 you would install a jumper wire .see if this helps if not write back i have 1 other solution.i hope this helps

Your outdoor condenser is in heat mode. Check the wires on the thermostat. Sounds like a small wiring problem and nothing else. Good luck. Please keep me posted as to you progress.
