My Toshiba Satellite A215-S7462 runs so hot that it shuts down? can you help

Hi. The most common cause of overheating is a build up of dust inside the laptop, mainly on the fan blades and the heatsink, This dust also collects around the exhaust and becomes matted together like a quilt, blocking the hot air from escaping the unit, causing the laptop to overheat and shut down to protect the CPU from damage. You could try to clear the blockage with a can of compressed air, although in many cases this does not work. It all depends on the level of blockage. If this does not work, and if you feel confident about taking the laptop apart to remove the blockage, you could try this...

I have a toshiba satellite a215 s7422 and it keeps shutting down on me so i disassembled it and cleaned out the fan but it still keeps shutting down...i recently had the bios reset, i don't know if that...

You should look for the following answers.
(1) Are you operating your laptop in a in a hot and dusty environment (If yes you should know that computers do not like hot and dusty environments and they shut down to avoid a complete burn out of the machine more over the dust particles also can destroy the hardware and block internal fan ventilation ducts in between the CPU and the fan).
(2) When the your laptop PC shuts down place your hand underneath the laptop and try to feel hot spots. If you find areas unusually heated then this is the main cause of the shut down.
(3) If just after the shut down and a good usage the Laptop is cool then underneath than overheating shut down might not be the case.
If you determined that heating is the cause and you cannot change your environment than you should look for other heavy duty laptops that are robustly designed for hot environments.
I do not think that resting the BIOS can cause this.

How can I access Satellite A215-S4747 hard drive to replace it?

Hi,

Turn the laptop off, remove the battery and shut the lid.

Turn the unit upside down with the back of the laptop face away from you.

On the front left of the underside of the laptop you should see a panel with 2 philips screws, unscrew these 2 screws and remove the cover.

There you will able to access the hard drive for removal and replacement.

Regards.

Screen goes black and no response. have to hold the power button till it shuts down then restart. Does this at least once everytime i am working

Could be overheating due to dust.  You could also try plugging in an external monitor to determine if it is a connection issue with the screen.

Overheating trouble?

It sounds to me that your laptop fan is either clogged with dust or the bearings have jammed. Its most likely going to be necessary to open up the laptop and clean or replace the fan. This will require an experienced technician to avoid risking further damage. I have done it and its tedious at best. No other solution will work.

My toshiba satellite a215-s7422 is overheating i think. it's been shutting off suddenly with no warning and the fan doesn't seem to be blowing like usual...

turn it off turn it over and clean the fan on the bottom. I use a Satellite a25. I have used air to blow out the cooling coils a nunber of times. Toshiba has picuten in the owners manual on how to remove the fan for cleaning. it picks up dust from the work area and does not blow it clear. this cause it to over heat most likely
