Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

Insignia Pilot 8GB won't stay on when computer connected.

It also will not turn on when not connected.
It behaves the same way when I remove the battery (i.e. comes on for a few seconds when computer-connected).

I used another product's charger on the insignia to play songs through a sound system for several hours... I suspect that the portion of the unit that connects the battery / charger is toast.

Any thoughts ??

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: itunes and insignia pilot

You can drag a group of songs from your iTunes window to a folder (or even just the mounted player itself) and they will copy to the player.

Or like suggested above you can find the files on your HD by right clicking the song you want and using the contextual menu to located it (different terminology if you are using Win vs Mac but same principle). Then copy them over.

You can't sync playlists or anything like that with iTunes. At least I haven't seen it as a supported player.

SOURCE: deleting pictures off of an insignia pilot mp3 player

You do it the same way that you delete music: Press your top right button to display the menu ("Settings", "recording", etc.). Roll your wheel to "Video"; press the navigational part of the scroll wheel to highlight the video that you want to delete. You'll then get options to "play", Add Now Playing, Play All, etc. At the bottom of those choices you will see the word, "delete". Scroll down to it and press the navigational button to highlight it. It will indicate a "No". and a "Yes". Scroll to "yes" and press the navigational button to delete it.

Can't pair bluetooth headphones with Insignia Pilot MP3 player

the directions from Samsung to pair the headset was way off. You need to hold down the main button then turn on the headset. Only then will the headset go into pairing mode by maintaining a solid blue light. It took me a couple of days of troubleshooting and experimenting to realize this pairing method. I just hope that this problem is only due to my headset because I assume a lot of people who buy this headset and try out Samsung's directions will become very frustrated. I almost returned the product and I am sure many others would too.

I do not have the install disk for my Insignia Pilot.

Go to Insignia's website to get the software - usually in the support section: Here is the link for the 8GB version of the Pilot:

Insignia Pilot doesn't always recognize music files

Okay...here we go!

1) Back up all your files on the player.
2) Re-format the player in windows as either FAT16 or FAT32 (no this will not remove the OS firmware).
3) Place your files back onto the player.

The volatile memory on these units can become corrupted if your USB connection is underpowered, split too many times, or has a few devices also drawing power.

This should fix your problem.

Good luck!

FLAC format support?

Hey chuckp73,

Unfortunately this model does not currently appear to have support for the FLAC lossless format, and does not have any updates available through the manufacturer's website at this time.

According to information provided by Insignia, the only file formats that the 8GB Pilot currently supports are MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, WMA DRM, WMA Pro, OGG, WAV, Audible, MPEG4 (30fps), WMV (30fps) and JPEG.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
