SOURCE: Samsung LCD Flat Screen TV LN-S2651D - Volume Problem

I lived with it for about six weeks, then took the back off the TV. Just now it seems to be fixed, but I don't know if it will last.

I disconnected the wire leading to the channel up/down, volume up/down and source board, turned on the tv, turned it back off, reconnected the cable, and everything seems fine now.

SOURCE: Retuning digital TV

You need to use the (what looks like a large sattellite) button to retune your tv.
Some Samsung tv's let you access the button but other models have a "D MENU" button on the remote. Press this button, then scroll down to the icon that looks like a large sattellite. Then scroll across and click on "Auto Store" this will then go through all the available channels

You say the remote doesn't work but it may well be the problem. Take the batteries out of the controller then try using the tv using the controls on the TV.

Original remote lost. have universal remote. cannot program TV

On the right hand side of this television there are panel buttons. It appears that your son in law knocked the tv out of the correct input. Press the input button in order to cycle through the 5 inputs. Typically pressing the input button on the side panel of a television and pressing it again and again and again will make it change inputs. Universally the buttons on the tv panel function as follows: Channel up moves the cursor up. Channel down moves the cursor down. Volume + moves the cursor right. Volume - moves the cursor left.
Hope this helps

Screen changes between color as a demo function.no signal

Gateway was sued Class action over LCD's and Plasmas they sold over a 2 year period. They resell 3rd party TV's that were very faulty, an immature design.

Here's what I learned about mine, which makes it limp through as a Computer monitor (both DVI and VCA) and halfway functional TV.
You have to connect a DVI source, on the Main Menu for the DVI input there is an option called "Factory Mode". scroll down to it with the CH buttons and select it with the vol button. The scroll to "initialize eprom", select and confirm it. After the "Waitting" words disappear, make sure you have a TV source connected, Then turn the TV off and on, using the hard switch in the back. The TV input should be defaulted to channel 10 or 11 now But you select a TV channel that has no TV signal on it (like channel 1 for example) , the whole TV input side will refuse to let you select it again, and you'll have a blank screen and have to start over.

That takes care of the blank screen thing Now the other problem is parental control is defaulting to "ON" or something, and you can't program channels. With the TV input Main Menu engaged, select "Setup Menu." If you have this problem, then you'll only see 2 options, all the TV input and channel programming options will be missing. You have to select Parental Control, and when it prompts you for a password hit the volume > button 4 times (or just wait for a minute.) This should bring back your TV System and auto prgram/manual search options.

Unfortunately, my TV doesn;t remember these setting very well if I select cable, it does better if I select "AIr". But at least it funtions - kind of. If you switch to your computer input, you probably will have to switch the monitor off and on from the back panel again. Mine always starts up with the menu onscreen. All this might bve less trouble if you have a the remote, I don;t know where mine went after the last move.

Good luck, and hope this helps.

Sharp LC-42D43U troubleshooting with the maximum volume sound

Found this on another site and it worked, had to switch back and forth a few times but it worked........

I have a Sharp LC-46D43U LCD TV. I think this is a entry level for large lcd tv's. With the volume all the way up at 60, my wife and I could barley hear the tv. I was playing around in the menu and some how have the volume at almost twice the volume. What I did was:
Go into the menu
Go to option
Go to output select
and change from fixed to variable and back to fixed. You may have to do this a few times.
Sometimes the volume goes loud after 1 try and sometimes it may take 10 or 20 tries.
But if I change any settings, even the channel sometimes the sound goes back down to where it was.
Has anyone done this, did it work for you. I don't know very much about electronics and I have now ideal why this happens.
I wonder if this is just something with my tv.
