I have a Samsung laser printer ml-2510. I installed it and evrything was going good besides the fact that I couldn't print. The printer cannot find the usb port one. I have a few other printers and they do not have this problem. How can I make my printer find the usb port.

Yes, you can make a self print test from the printer even if the printer is not connected to the computer. This means that the unit is in good working condition. Possibly your printer doesn't communicate with your computer. try this, hit start key>control panel>fax and printers>select your printer>right click to properties>click ports tab>check if the port is matched to the port you are using.also, make sure it is your default printer.
Why no updates? No windows validation? That could be your problem if that's the case. If not, I suggest going to Windows update and at least installing all critical updates, if not SP3 as well, and try again
Delete printer Icon in the "printers and faxes" dialog box, then use the software installation Cd to re-install it. Also, depending what software that printer uses, there may be a "Samsung" software to delete in "add/Remove programs" in the "control panel" as well. I would delete everything and start from scratch. Select the proper port when setting up. I assume you are using a "USB" port?
I got the same problem. It seems they did not develop specific drivers for win98se. However, I found that you can print using the drivers for the old Samsung ML-2510. Win98se drivers for that printer can still be downloaded from Samsung website. I've been using the 2510 drivers with the 1640 printer for a couple of months, and worked fine so far. It seems very little change in electronics from the 2510 to the 1640 model.
You need also Virtual Printer Port for USB from microsoft.
