My microsoft VX 3000 isnt workign with webcam

I had to reboot my computer a few weeks ago, and i lost all my programs so had to redownload msn and reinstall my webcam. The webcam which worked before then would nopt work on msn.
I bought this new microsoft vx3000 webcam and , whilst it says the installation was complete etc etc, all i get is a blank screen when trying to use it on msn messenger. I know the webcam its self works becasue i can record on the lifecam program itself, just cant get live vid calls on msn.
Any suggestions?

Do you have a VOIP program like skype running from boot up, stop it from doing this and reboot, now try it.
Do you have any IM program ( Yahoo / MSN or whatever ) running from bootup. Again stop this and reboot.
Any program that starts when windows starts and have video/webcam capabilities will effect you using the webcam.
Hope that is a little help for you

Not working on msn

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

http://www.testmycam.com/

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to WLM (MSN)

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE to MSN
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the MSN software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Open MSN
Click 'Open Menu'
From 'Tools; navigate to, and click, 'Audio and Video setup'
Set your speakers
Click 'Test' - if OK, move on.
Set your mic as default
Use the slider to set volume and test.
Click 'Next'
This takes you to the video setup
Your webcam should be broadcasting - (if not - make sure the webcam is set as default - restart MSN)
Use 'Webcam Settings'to fine tune the picture.
Click 'Finish'

Microsoft vx-3000 won't work on MSN!!

What you can do is click the Sound Icon beside the Nudge Button. It might bring up a window titled "Set up Audio and Video - Speaker/Microphone or Speakerphone" the Microsoft Vx-3000 has a microphone built in, so you can change your audio settings to "Microsoft Vx-3000" , then click next. The next one is Webcam. You can change the default settings to Microsot vx-3000.

If you've tried changing your settings for MSN before, then I'm not sure. This is the clever way for me :P

No, most likely some resident software is accessing the camera, or the camera needs updated drivers. try updating to the newest software and make sure the cam software isnt booting up before the MSN client
