Deep Fryer Element Won't Heat Up

I bought this fryer two years ago and only use it two times a year to fry fish on our fishing trips. Last month it would not heat up. The green power light was on so it was getting juice. I checked the instructions trouble shooting guide and did what was suggested, no luck.

This fryer has only been used six times.

My deep fryer will not heat up after I changed the oil and cleaned it. The power light and the temp light are on but it is not hot?

My fryer is just short of a year old and the oil will not heat up. It gets power but the green "ready" light is also on, indicating that the oil is ready at set temperature. Apparently it is a problem with the thermostat. Of course I did not save original packaging so I am not able to return under the warranty. Suggestions anyone?

I have deep fryer 3 months and it will not heat up. I have used frydaddy and tfal in the fast and had no problems. Still have the frydaddy and the tfal lasted for 10 years.

Have had fryer since Dec 2007. The light is on but there is no heat. Since there is a 1 yr warranty on this, I suppose I have to put it in a box and mail off to MO. Because there are so many with the same problem, why not send out new heating elements instead of us having to mail the entire fryer?

I used it maybe like 10 times and that thing would not power on anymore !

  • Anonymous Apr 27, 2008

I have had this fryer for over three years and use the **** out of it. Today whenever I turned it on the lights came on but the element wouldn't heat up. What is wrong?

  • Quickster May 06, 2008

FYI After the second use of this newly bought fryer it would not reheat. The green light would come on but wouldn't heat up the oil. We scrubbed it clean and it worked fine for another 4-5 uses. Noticing during these uses oil is actually being leaked onto the power strip underneath the oil. No box No receipt .. 40$ wasted again.

I have the same problem and when I opened up the control panel it smelled like burnt circuit board. I fear the control board had something burn up.

Deep fry cod

I usually set mine for 350. When at temperature I cook just long enough to cook the fish. Maybe two minutes depending on how thick the fish is. I normally do it by sight when a golden brown I remove it.

A friend told me to buy an 8 inch deep fry thermometer for making fish. Is it worth buying one?

Deep fry thermometers help you cook fish perfectly, so that you don't undercook it or dry it out completely. The 8inch thermometer clips to the side of the fryer. I love mine!

Battered fish sticks tobottom of basket

If you are battering your fish yourself, all you need to do is slowly submerge the fish into the oil, in increments of 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and then 100%. You can do this in less than 30 seconds, you're just giving the batter time to "set". Also, about 30 seconds after the entire fish is submerged in oil, give the basket a good shake. This should dislodge it from the bottom of the basket. Keep your eye on things as the fish is frying.

If it's pre-battered fish, then just drop it in, wait about 30-45 seconds and give the basket a good shake, as I said before.

Good luck!

Do not know how to use

Oil darkens with use the oil food molecules burn when subjected to high prolonged heat.
When frying foods such as fish or chicken use the oil once.

Do not filter oil over to reuse. Storing the oil in the refrigerator may extend the life of the oil, this should not be done ever. This process of chilling the oil and then burning the oil to room temperature causes excessive splattering furing the heat up.

Storing the covered oil in a cool dark place, for up to three months. ( remember to check oil when you use for color, smell, or excessive foaming. Throw out if there is signs of all the above.

This unit has a warranty for one year from the day of purchase.

When starting let unit reheat 7-10 minutes. This will get the heat to desired temperature. Re4ady light will cycle on/off during frying as temperature fluctuates due to food load.
Types of foods cooking: temperatures and time of cooking

Chicken strips 375 F. 5-8 minutes

Chicken pieces, bone-in 375 F. 15-20 minutes

Fish, battered 340 F. 8-10 minutes

French fries, frozen 375F. 3-5 minutes

F375F. 3-5 minutes

Onion rings 375 F. 3-5 minutes

Shrimp, breaded 375 F. 2-5 minutes
When frying frozen food if iced rub off lose as this can make the temperature of oil cool down. Pre-cooked frozen food cooks faster and does not come out oily.

I cannot wait to start cooking in mine as I got it for a christmas gift. Great recipes in the owners manual:

Apples fritters yum yum, beer batter for fish or chicken, deep fried chicken , chicken Kiev, quick doughnut made from biscuits, add topping of ground cinnamon and suger.

Cool touch t-fal deep fryer. I can't find my instruction manual. I took it to work to read and now I can't find it! I want to fry some fish, french fries and cheese sticks. Thank you very much, Bonnie

My Cool Touch won't come on either. I wiggled the magnetic power cord and it came on one time but then, the second time, I tried wiggling the cord to relenquish the problem and zilch! Becoming more and more frustrated and since my fish was battered and ready to go I started pressing at the connections. It turned out that PUSHING THE POWER SWITH TO 'ON' AND THEN APPLYING FIRMER PRESSURE IN THAT SAME DIRECTION made the light come on, signifying POWER!!! Hope this helps. I imagine that there is some type of connection from the 'ON' switch that just doesn't connect and by pushing the 'ON' button firmly upwards the connection is made.
