Hi all. My Hayward 250 pilot stays lit just fine. No matter what I try, the heater won't come on.

Any suggestions?

Check the control circuit, specifically the pressure switch, for continuity with an ohm meter....any reading over 2 ohms needs to be investigated

Why will my hayward h 250 millivolt pool heater pilot light not stay lit

Looks like your pilot generator may have some corrosion on it. Follow the stainless steel tubing on the gas valve as it goes down to the burner area. At the end of this is the pilot assembly. If you can remove this so your able to work on it you will se a short metal rod that the pilot flame touches when lit. This generates current that keeps the gas flowing to the pilot to keep it lit. Take some sand paper and give it a light sand to remove any corrosion on it. Reassemble at put it together. You may also need to clean the pilot tube(stainless tube from valve). Small spiderwebs can reduce the flow to the pilot and cause this problem also

Check the thermocouple that the pilot light heats up. If it is not working then the gas to the pilot will not stay on.

Hayward Comfortzone pool heater pilot will stay lit but main burner will not fire. If the TH terminals are jumpered it will, but it won't stay on.

Have you tried jumping the pressure switch, as well as the on/off switch. sounds like something in the safety circuit is open
