From your description the print head is bad, have you tried a maintenance cleaning to see if that might help? sometimes the nozzles become clogged and produce all kinds of problems from faint print to uneven ink distribution.

Faint copies

Several things. If you use it as a printer and the prints are clear, then you need to clean the scanner.
If both prints and copies are light, then the laser window needs cleaned, and possibly a drum and developer.

Hp2100 laserjet printer producing very faint copy

Could be a few things. I would check the transfer roller first it is the roller that sits under the toner cart. This roll should be spring loaded. Press down on each end, it should move down and come back up. If someone removed this roll the springs may be missing or out of place.
Let me know if this helps

Very faint copies

You need developer added to your machine. When it is added properly to the toner, your copy quality will improve.

HP 7110 still won't print in color

Your post "...it prints very faint horizontal lines in color..." is indicative that indeed your color printheads are clogged and would need repetitive deep head cleaning. This is of course would require that you keep on cleaning until such time as the faint color lines have turned to legible print.
