Have you tried adjusting the tension? How about adjusting the height of your presser foot? If the seams are thick like on jeans you may have to push/pull the fabric a little to help it along. As far as adjusting the tension it will tell you how in your manual. The presser foot height is adjusted by unscrewing the silver knob and making it lower then tightening the silver screw. Hope this helps?

Knowing which kind of machine you have helps alot. Just guessing but maybe the reverse mechanism is stuck and needs some oil in it to free it up. Or the buttonhole mechanism is stuck in reverse part of it.
Probably you should have it looked at.

First check to see if your bobbin is in right, if it is check your top tension...
SOURCE: When I sew I can,t get the seams tight.
Try adjusting the bobbin tension and see if that helps. If all else fails, why not contact the manufacturer or read your instruction manual for further details.

SOURCE: tension is too tight on my sewing machine,,need to
Hi. As a rule of thumb, once the tension is balanced on your machine, it shouldn't need adjusting. It's not something you adjust for each different type of seam or fabric (again, rule of thumb!). (Certain kinds of sewing, like free motion embroidery or when you use rayon thread, require particular tension adjustments, but for ordinary sewing, you shouldn't have to mess with the tension that often.
If the top tension is too tight, your top thread will be loose and basically just sitting on top of the fabric. You need to loosen it up so that the bobbin thread can pull the top thread down into the fabric.
Let me know if this helps, ok? I'm going to post a tip on adjusting tension so please check that out.
Happy Sewing!
