8GB SDHC Card Doesn't mount

I bought an 8GB SDHC memory card (HP Q6276A) for a dollar in a yardsale. The seller had no info on its history. If I put it in the SD slot of any of my desktops, all I get is a never-ending ''hourglass.'' I'd like to use the card for backing-up folders on my desktop hard drive. How can I get the card to work with my desktop.

If your computers support SDHC memory cards, then the card is faulty.

Samsung s1030 digital camera keep showing memory full but have inserted new sdhc card how do i clear this as i cannot take any pics

Clear it by putting in a compatible memory card. The S1030 works with SD cards. Your 8GB SDHC card in not compatible. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Cell phone says that the memory card is not supported do i need to format it first

You haven't listed the model of your phone so I am going to take a shot in the dark here. Most phones will format the card on their own so it could be that the phone in question doesn't support SDHC, you might try an older MicroSD (not SDHC) card and see if it works.

Bought a new Lexar 8GB memory card and having trouble formatting it for the Kodak Easy Share V530

The V530 works with SD cards. Your new 8GB card is an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to go with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I just inserted a 8 MB card in and the camera says "Memory card needs formatting" I click continue, then it says "Formatting will delete everything on the memory card", no problem, it's a new card so I...

8MB or 8GB? If it's actually an 8MB card, you'll be able to put maybe two or three pictures on it, so I'll assume it's an 8GB card.

The DX4530 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into SD devices, there are electronic difference that prevent them from working there. SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

The brand isn't important. The 8GB card is an SDHC(secure digital high capacity) card and the smaller one is an SD. Your camera may not be able to use an SDHC card. Try formatting it in the camera before giving up on it.

My phone doesn't recognise my sd card

An 8GB micro SD card will actually be a micro SDHC card. Older SD devices care incompatible at the basic hardware level with the SDHC specification: they can only use standard SD variants. In theory that means a micro SD up to 4GB but in practice I've found very few pre-SDHC devices which will reliably handle more than 2GB SD cards without a firmware update.

I hope that this answers your question and ask in return only that you take a moment to rate my answer.

If it hasn't, then please add a comment with the exact make and model of the older phone and also of the 8GB micro-SD card and I'll investigate further before posting a reply for you.

SDHC card won't work

Your card is an SDHC, your camera supports only SD/MMC cards. I know this because i found thisp ostlooking for a way to make it accept SDHC cards, a software update could easily work in theory but someone would have to write that update. Technology changes fast doesnt it.
