Question about Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headset

Front speakers distorted after installing Logitech USB on Vista

I am having this identical problem on 2 vista machines. Logitech and Microsoft have not been able to help. Maybe you can?

Both machines have standard PC speakers plugged into the 3.5mm output jack of the soundcard. Audio worked fine until I installed a Logitech ClearChat Wireless USB headset. After the first use of USB, many programs sound distorted and scratchy if I try to use the computer speakers. The audio is fine if I plug in my USB headset.

I need the option of using my computer speakers without a headset.

Since I have the identical problem on 2 machines there has to be a setting off.

Please help.

I want to be able to to have an option to use either. If I use your options I will not be able to use my Headset.

Also, I don't see any software for the Logitech installed.

Looking for a solution that allows me to use either the headset or my computer speakers.

  • josh_ferenc Jun 27, 2009

The issue first appeared after I installed and used the Logitech Clear Chat Pro USB Wireless Headset.

I would like to find the root of the problem so that i can choose between plugging in my USB headset and using thet OR unplugging my USB headset and using my PC speakers. I need to figure out how to get the distortion removed from my PC speakers.

The drivers are part of Vista. They are not listed to uninstall. Also, they are not listed in device manager.

I think that Vista sound is somehow screwed up.

Try uninstalling the software for the logitech headset. Or do a system restore to the date before you installed / plugged in the headset for the first time.

Only 2 speakers working

You probably need to re-install the drivers. If a disc came with the speakers insert it and go through the install. Other look on your speakers for the exact model number then go to the Logitech web site. Look under support or drivers and software. Find your speakers and download and install the last drivers for your speakers.

ClearChat Pro USB headset asks for driver upon install

  1. (Vista) Confirm your system restore point first. It needs to be prior to what you're going to attempt here. If it has a recent restore point, great, but if not, make a system restore before you do this, in case it doesn't work.
  2. In the Control Panel, click System, Advanced System Settings, click System Protection, and click System Restore.
  3. (Optional) Try updating your usb drivers before trying the final step, reinstalling the Vista Service Pack 2.
  4. Here's how to verify if your USB (drivers) in the Device Manager are up to date.
  5. Open the Control Panel, System, Device Manager.
  6. Open the Universal Serial Bus controllers (usually at the bottom of the device list).
  7. Right-click, on your first USB, Updating Driver Software. It will look for the update or let you know (which may take a bit of time) that it is up to date already. Repeat this process on all the USB devices.
  8. If that doesn't work, try this: plug in your headset, and keep it plugged into the usb.
  9. In your Windows Updates, re-install the Service Pack 2. After Vista reboots your computer and finishes the install, unplug your headset from the USB and then replug it in. What you are likely to see is a Windows message indicating that it sees the software and is installing it (minus the windows pop-up message of "where's the driver disc for it?").
  10. Now the trick is to get the headset to play the microphone through the speakers appropriately!

Transfering mail setup from Windows xp to a windos vista machine with EasySuite

I'm not 100% sure about vista because I hate it but I can help you copy all of your outlook express data to a CD\DVD disk & your address book. Your network settings for express account is a phone call to your ISP.
If vista's explorer is set up like XP you should be able to copy your data into outlook express.
Open all these folders on you XP system.
User name\Application Data\Identities\{xxxxxxx}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Copy the Outlook Express folder to your CD.
User name\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book. Copy Address Book folder.
Making sure you have everything.
Open, User name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{xxxxxxx}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Compair the two Outlook Express folder files. CD will not allow copy of same named folder.
If Vista's lay out is the same as XP than copy Outlook Express folder to Vista.
Suggest you have your current ISP setting /account setup before copying to Vista

Let me know if this works for you!
Good Luck & Kind Regards.

Logitech headset, new vista operating system

either the headset is not supported by Vista, or you need to right click on both speaker icons, normally coloured red and black and in the properties you need to see if your headset is listed as one of the microphone input devices, if you need to make the Logitech headset the default mic and not the windows generic mic. If you do not see it in the properties then it may not be recognised by Vista.
