Question about Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Receiver
Same problem as another post. Tried car charger and USB charger and my 2-month old Garmin Nuvi 765T won't power-on or charge. I don't have my wall charger with me. Brought it to Florida and am guessing it has something to do with the hot temperature.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Mine did the same thing. Take a T5 torx bit and unscrew the bottom two screws. Gently pry unit apart. I used finger nails. Disconnect the battery wires from circuit board. Leave unplugged for 10 seconds. Plug the battery wires back into the circuit board. Turn unit on and then plug into computer and run the garmin web updater. Download the fix from garmin. Or you can send back to garmin and two weeks later they'll send you a refurbed unit. You'll lose all your saved data. On top of paying the shipping.

Your Garmin is not charging then it is a loose contact or cold solder in charging socket. That is the common problem of socket you must re works the solder there or bring it to a cellphone repair if you are not electronically enclined. If re solder does not fix then problem is in the charging IC. Replaced this IC so it will charged again.

The problem is very simple... The GPS unit perceives whatever you plug in depending on the power supply figure.
If you car charger is not giving enough power, then the GPS perceive the cable as being connected to a pc.... thus not charging. Check with an car electrician if you can raise the power supply on your car...

You need to update the software asap. The old version has some kind fault and will eventually cause your Sat Nav to shut down for good.
