Hi Bill, Have you tried the printers on another PC?Please do.
Whats the Operating System on your PC?Do the printer drivers correspond with that Operating System? If not, download the corresponding drivers from this dell support site. This you select under compatibility.
After uninstalling the printer, disconnect fully and unplug from power.Reboot your PC before installing the printer again.
To generate a PRN file, you need to have the printer driver installed in your computer. You should be able to see the PRN option (in some cases, it is termed as 'save to file') in the printer dialog box.
In your own software, you have to use the printers driver as well to produce a PRN file as well.
Since you are also unable to send the print command to your printer, it seems that your printer driver is not present or might have been corrupted.
Download and install the driver for your printer from >>HERE
Double check the settings first. See procedure below: 1. Go to your PC's Print dialog box and click on
Properties.
2. Click on the Printing Shortcuts tab, and select
Two-sided (Duplex) Printing from the drop-down menu. 3. Select Automatic from the Print on both sides
drop-down menu. See pic below:
You may try to install the patch for duplex printing. Please see related issue.
First: Soft Reset 1. Open front cover. 2. Hold down button located under LED's until all LED's
are lit. 3. Release button and make sure drum LED is off, then 4. Close cover
Second: Factory Reset 1. Turn the printer off. 2. Hold in the circular button on the front panel of the printer. 3. Turn the printer back on. 4. When the DRUM light is lit by itself let go of the button. 5. Hold in the circular button on the front panel again. 6. Once the Alarm light comes on, let go of the button. This will perform a factory reset on the printer.
I hope that's everything you want. Please accept this answer if this will help you. Thank you for using Fixya.
The pc company walked me through the fixing of my printer. Please cancel any charges with your company as I did not receive any help from fixya. thank you
The printer port on 2600 series routers does not support bidirectional printing. This feature should be disabled for the product to function normally. See Related Articles at right for further information.
Solution
To disabling bidirectional printing:
Go to [Start > Settings > Printers] or [Start > Control Panel > Printers], depending on your version of Windows.
Right-click the printer and select [Properties].
Selectthe[Ports] tab.
Deselect [Enable bidirectional support].
Hope this helps. let me know. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
Hi Sccfire,
This apparently is a fairly common problem with the 2800 series printer and associated with connection to a PC using USB. It can only be overcome by manually configuring the printer?s USB port to work in standard mode rather than at high-speed USB2.0 mode which probably won?t be to much of a problem. Here is a link from a support page on HP?s site that should walk you through the process:
