To my understanding the VHF version of the Motorola GP 2000 is a 5 watter while the UHF is 4 watts. In any case, the model # GP 2000 is for a North America version while the International models would carry the PRO2150 tag.

In any case, an "EPROM" is similar to the BIOS of a motherboard or the firmware of a router and therefore an "EPROM EER" or "EPROM ERR" indicates possible failure or an issue in the firmware.

Assuming that it is a software problem and not hardware, you would need appropriate software and interface cable that the unit's firmware may be re-programmed back. Of course it has to be attached to a computer. The interface cable comes in 2 models, a USB female and a RS232/DB9 Female both terminated at the other end with a HLN9716 style connector (2.5 mm audio stereo plug). The application used is an RSS programming software (R??.??.??) normally run under DOS. The ? refers to firmware version/dates. You need to determine the exact version of your firmware. Further you need to contact Motorola India to secure the RSS software and a copy of the firmware.

Alternately, you can try (but not guranteed; depends on extent of firmware problem) cloning the defective GP-2000 from an operational unit. This action would require a cloning cable. It is a 3 wire cable terminated at bothe ends with an HLN9716 style connector (2.5 mm audio stereo plug).

Another option is to try RSS programming software for other models. If you have access to a 2nd GP-2000, you can copy the operational radio's firmware and save it as a file in your PC. Thereafter, upload saved file to overwrite the defective firmware of the radio in question. Some RSS Programming Software for many Motorola radio models maybe found here.

Pls bear in mind that:
Some radios are put in programming (cloning) mode automatically;
Some radios are put in programming (cloning) mode manually by pressing a specific set of buttons while turning on;
Some radios need pressing specified buttons to start data upload or download;
Some radios may be locked to prevent reading or writing data

Refer to your specific radio manual.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Phase Lock Loop error. This should be sent in for repairs to align PPL. Basically it is out of frequency which may have resulted in a jolt, drop or deteriorating component.

Here's a good one for an expert. Our newish coastguard boat fitted with 3 VHF radios - all working correctly, recently had a wireless headset system installed. We get huge amounts of electrical nosie over...

From your info the GND & shield (could be the same) are crossed. or one is open. A shield as in the antenna coax or an isolated ground as in an internal type coax in the interconnect cable of the wireless headset assembly. I suggest doing a 'BOARD WALK' routine, Move the wireless assy from one VHF unit to another, the problem follows-bad head set assy. If not, return to original VHF, problem returns bad internal connection in VHF unit. Please let me know the outcome.

A Motorola MTS2000 is a government issue 2-way radio, hence user manuals are restricted. You can try ordering them with Motorola (800‑422‑4210). I was made to understand that manual part number starts with “68” and ends with a “-O”. Version would depend whether you have the I, II, II versions in either VHF, UHF, 800 or 900 MHz.

Since this is your 2nd posting of this model and based on your profile however, I would assume that your requirement is technical in nature (field programming, repair, maintenance, etc), perhaps a Service Manual would fit you better.  It is available   here in pdf. A Spec Sheet is  here  likewise in pdf.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
