Dell E173FP temperature sensitive 17" monitor

I have a temperature sensitive dell E173FP 17"monitor. I want to replace the inverter/power supply board. It takes 2 different kinds, one a 2 connector CCFL lamp board and one a 4 connector. Is there a way to tell what board I have without dismantling it? Thanks for your help.

Re: Dell E173FP temperature sensitive 17" monitor

No. The best way is to take off the rear panel and insulator cover. Look on the board for "p/n: xxxxxxx" for the exact part number. I've found this to be the best way to ensure the correct board.
Also, once you're inside, you could see how many CCFLs you have.

Sounds to me like a power inverter. Fix it yourself with the parts found on Ebay at a cheap cost to yourself. The entire Dell E173FP 17" power inverter is selling for $29.99 plus shipping.

Dell E173FP 17 monitor went dark and not working. I restart the pc it shows for only few second and went out again. I plug in one other monitor in my pc and it work fairly well. So something not right with...

There are three possible cause why your monitor went black and start working..

1. If your monitor is dead set.. no reaction or lights turn on after power on.. then it needs to check if there is blown capacitor in its power supply section..

2. The high voltage ballast transformer of the backlight inverter is burned - it needs to be replaced so that it will not have a direct effect on the power supply section of the monitor.

3. The backlight inverters are all busted - the backlight was located at the upper and lower back edge of the monitor.. If these lights are busted then all that will be seen in your monitor is black screen.. It will need to be replaced so that image display will come out from your screen..

These 3 reason and its solutions can only be done by yourself if you have the knowledge, proper skills and the right tools to open the back cover of the monitor and replace the problem parts....

Otherwise, bring your monitor to a credible technician and if there is warranty,, avail of this...

Hope that answer your question..

Much appreciated if you rate this help..thanks..

Dell E173FP LCD TFT 17" FLAT SCREEN Monitor

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for:

When I connect the power to the monitor Dell E173FP 17, power bottom commence to turn on and off repeatedly...

Power LED is turning on and off because the power supply is in shutdown-restart mode becuase it sensing over current draw, it can be bad caps in power supply, shorted tramsistors (c5707) in the inverter circuits. See pictures:
Check the fuse and the transistor out (check Emitter and Collector pin for short circuits)

Dell e173fp monitorno power at all

If the pwoer indicator is blinking on the Dell monitor, you have shorted out transistors (C5706/5707) in the inverter circuits, also look out for bad capactiors.

Has power but no display

Do the flashlight test. Shine flashlight on front of screen at angle and see if you can see an image or lettering. If so, it is probably inverter board. Let me know first if you have an image.
