Inside the front opening there is another arrow, the back corners either have screws, or plastic tabs. If there's a gear to support the scanner, there's a screw behind that assembly.

This answer was not speciific for the IP6700D. This one is: The fourth (missing or overlooked) arrow is on the front of the cart reader, at the right side and pointing to the left. That means that you have to poke on that height, but in the left side of the cart reader section! If anyone is interested, let met know: I can send you some pictures if you like.
pommyjohn696: still need it? PS: it took me about five hours and a sleepless night to find out.

When I turn on my MP830 Cannon the error "release the scanner lock switch and turn the power off and back on" appears. I have done it . The scanner appears to attempt moving, but does not get very far

hello, what i have found out so far, sometimes a small bit of tape they use on the scanner and ribbon cable rubs on glass, then catches on the white calibration area, but not all the time, when a machine has been used really well, and taken care of, the scanner just fails, replace whole top unit, not the doc feed, just scanner unit only, if main pcb still good machine will work just fine

Error message A600 on iP6700D pinter --- removed all cartridges as suggested - no change - turned off and attempted a hard reset - no success - will not print at all -

6A00 says the purge unit is jammed on the right side where the printhead parks.Sometimes you can just push back the squeegee assembly to free it and clean with a wet Q-tip. Other times you can only have the purge unit replaced.

Error code 6A00 comes up on the Canon Pixma iP6700D. We have moved the carriage manually, it doesn't move when the printer starts. Thank you. Kilian Kuntz

That error code tells you that the purge assembly is stuck. If the carriage is locked on the right you will need a shop to open it up and release it. If it's not a paper scrap or something stopping it, you will need a new purge assembly. Around $30.00 to replace.

Error code 5100 on the canon ip6700D printer. stops printing part way through. Have tried all the cleaning options.

5100 says the carriage is not moving properly or there is ink or grease on the encoder. One time I found a camera card inside stopping it, but usually it's just grease on the encoder strip behind the carriage assembly.also if the purge assembly on the right is stuck in the up position you'll get that error.

Canon Pixma IP6700D

Hi there

Error A600
Your A600 is a paper path error, usually related to the purge unit. Try checking the purge unit for paper stuck in it.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code.
Almost 90% of the time is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.

Look for paper, paper clips, push pins, screws flower bud pods or the like.

The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.

The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

The purge unit is a white plastic assembly (on the right side of the printer where the print head homes) that is spring loaded on rides on a rail.
You can try moving it back and forth about 5 times or so and clean the rail with a cleanex and putting a little bit of some light oil on it and then close everything up and try it.

If you found this useful all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.
