Question about Canon Cameras

Our cannon powershot g9 camera is 1 year old. It will not turn on

Our cannon powershot g9 camera is 1 year old. It was working fine and went to take some more photos and now it will not turn on. We recharged the battery pack, with not results. Next we bought a new battery pack and after charging it, it did not bring results. What could the problem be? We do not use this camera that often, and are very upset that after researching cameras and paying a very hefty price for this one and now after this short time it does not work. Suggestions please???
Thank you

That's a typical power problem in this camera, it probably has a short from some loose screws inside. This is a common thing on your model, you can just have it fixed and the screws inside the camera corrected so they can't come loose on their own again. The site that does the service on the Canon Powershots that is wonderful is: They only work on the Canons and they are terrific for service on these. They don't charge much at all and they include the correction to the screws that come loose on all G9's when they service them. Good luck having it fixed up, that site is where many people go for help with this power problem on the G9's

My Canon G9 Powershot will not switch on at all. It was working fine then the next time I tried it would not switch on. It was not dropped or was it exposed to water. It about 3-4 years old. The battery...

The Canon G9 has a design defect, two screws fall out inside the camera and short out the fuse. If you've never had it fixed for no power before this is most likely what has happened to your camera.

Do a Google search for "canon g9 no power repair" and you will see a full repair service including return shipping of your camera for just $85.

Hope this helps!

My cannon g9 camera stopped working. the lens is stuck open and it won't turn on. Any suggestions?

Common no power problem on the G9, you just need to get it serviced. There's a great site that only services the Powershots, they're amazing when it comes to servicing these models. On the G9, they do a fix in the camera so the short never happens again which is great, plus they service up the rest of the camera. They don't charge much and they're amazing if you need help with a Powershot. Try them, their site is: Good luck, that's the best place if you need help with a Powershot problem.

There shouldnt be anything wrong with cannon g9 camera but even when i let the battery cgarged for more than a day the camera still wont turn on what should i do?

You likely have a very common no power problem that sometimes comes up on the Canon Powershot G9 Camera. It's caused by two screws inside the camera that come loose and make it short out. You need to have it serviced and that problem is not much at all to fix. If you go to: they just specialize in service for the Powershots. They're amazing if you need some help with one of these. They have a deal for $89 total with return shipping and that covers the total service and repair, plus they include a fix on all the G9's so the short never happens again. Best of luck, that's too nice of a camera to not be turning on.

Computer no longer recognizes my G9

i have the same camera but i want to use it like a webcam.
I found a driver that is located in the canon homepage, called "canon RAW codec"(compatible with Vista and XP), and it allows you to download the photos of the camera and to take fotos instantly, but it don't suport the webcam function...  :(  . I'm using it in windows XP.

That's all, Ithink that it must work for all the users.

Cannon power shot G9 won't turn on

If it's under a year, send it in for warranty with proof of purchase. If the warranty has since expired, try this site: They're amazing for help with these. The no power problem on the G7 and the G9 is most often from a common loose screw that falls out inside the camera and causes a short, resulting in no power on the device. The site I gave you does the internal correction to the screws so you don't have to worry about the problem from keep happening. They're $89 with all of the service for the camera included and the repair and correction and even cover shipping back. The best part, they do amazing work on these Canons, good luck with it.

I lost my Cannon Powershot G6 and want to replace it. would you recommend G9 or G10? Or is similarly priced Nikon better solution? I have lenses and adapters for G6. Are they compatible with the...

Considering you've become familiar with the Cannon, I would stick with that. With different cameras come different problems. Probably best to stick with what you know. I would recommend the G10. It was the most amazing camera I've ever messed with. Though, most of your G6 lenses and adapters should be compatible with G9, but doubtfully the G10.
Still need help? Let me know!

My Cannon G9 digital camera wont power up even though I have a fully charged battery?

This is usually from a loose screw inside the camera, a screw inside the camera can come loose and cause a short which is very common on the G9. If you go to: all they deal with is service for the Canon Powershots. They're great if you need a hand with one of these and they automatically do the no power correction on the G7's and the G9's they service which is nice. They are about the least expensive out there at $89 and they include the service and the shipping back. The best part, they do excellent work which is a must for me. Hope that helps you some.
