Question about Danby 7,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner - Euro Gray

Aircon mode just stopped working after 3 years

My airconditioning mode stopped working today after working fine for 3 years. When I switch it on in aircon mode, the green light (Just above where it lists the modes on the left of the machine) comes on, flashes a few times then goes off. The aircon mode just works like the fan mode now.

Ok, I will open it up. I have no idea what to look for...loose wires somewhere inside?

  • kansablankie Jun 27, 2009

Can you please be more specific as in which wires would be for the aircon mode as there is also a heat, fan and dehumidifier mode? I have it open and I do not see anything loose.

  • kansablankie Jun 27, 2009

I opened it, cleaned it and checked for loose wires even though not really sure what to look for. I plugged it in just now and it is still doing the same thing after it has been cleaned.

how would I know for sure? I fit is the compressor, is it worth replacing it and where would I find one?

This symptom is in control panel circuit. The common causes circuit problem is cold solder or loose connection that why the machine funtion abnormally and it cause the machine to overheat and shutdown automatically. The switch and control chip are the usual suspects because the switch experiences lots of electrical and thermal stress and the control chip is a complex IC. Also possible is a defect in the circuit board such as a cold solder joint. A cold solder joint is where a lead of a component is not soldered at a high enough temperature and results in a bad electrical connection which can respond to physical shock and thermal stress.Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected . When the aircon unit turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. A solder joint may also be broken or cracked because the was tug or hit. Look on the front and back of the board along the defective circuit to see any components that look like they are not soldered effectively or the solder connection is cracked or broken. A cold solder joint looks dull and/or bulging unlike the smooth and shiny normal solder joints. Its better you resolder all components parts joints of control panel circuit board.Thats is the best solution for this kind of problem . Good luck; Regards: VOTIT

Aircondition

You don't ever have to touch the refrigerant system under the hood as long as the A/C is blowing cold and working good. Don't ever listen to those ploys saying they'll service your A/C system, there is no such thing as a A/C service. The only thing you can actually do is remove all the refrigerant and put it right back in. If there was a leak in the system, you would know it because the A/C would eventually stop working.

I hope this info helps!

I have a GrandAire and the aircon works fine; when I turned the heat on, it seems to work fine (warms the house), but the fan in the outside unit is not spinning when the heat is on...is this a problem?...

I think your unit is working in good condition. If you keep in cool mode the out door fan runs to condensate the heat in condenser by taking fresh air from the ambient. And when you keep heat mode, definitely the ambient temp will be too less.I fit takes from their then compressor will get frozting and it couldn't work properly. Depending on pressure increase, the fan will automatically run and stop. Don't worry. Thanks.

make sure you don't have a flexible duct from the a/c to the vent. it can fill with water if drain is clogged ,check to see where drain runs too tape a wet dry shop vac to it and **** it out good and check for water built up in ducts and drain

Transfer error 0X8004C01A--Just started--What to do?

Some audiobook services have fixed-term licenses of 1-year - at the end of the time period, you have to resynchronize the audiobook files to the audiobook service itself.

Here is an interesting clip from the Sandisk forums on this exact issue:
"
Overdrive library books have DRM-encryption to make them stop working at the end of the loan-out period unless you renew them. This means your player must be set to MTP mode.

If your player intentionally or un-intentionally got switched to MSC mode, that would prevent the DRM content from being loaded onto your player and account for the error message.

Check it in SETTINGS > USB MODE on your player."
