You mat use a memory card reader.

I have a Coolpix L15 and have used it successfully for the past 2 years. Before our cruise I bought a new SD card (2GB) and took 2090 pictures during the 9 days. Back home now, I can view all 2090...

Consider getting a card reader.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Remember you need to turn the camera on when transferring.
Instead of using the Easy Share Programe

2: Find the location of the camera and your pictures
3 Drag and drop from the camera to the computer

Try a different USB outlet

Every time I download new pictures, the camera also downloads older pictures already on my computer. Thanks.

After downloading pictures, are you keeping all your pictures on the camera card and never deleting them? Your card must be very full. Also, your computer can't tell the difference between new pictures and the ones you don't want to download. Why not download everything and then format the card in the camera for a fresh start?

Need help downloading pictures to laptop.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or, as in your case, connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.
