thanks seth. There's a display output if my monitor was plugged into this card, sadly, after installing its driver, it hangs. I already uninstalled its driver, have a fresh copy of it from nvdia and installed it, but same problem occured. I tried to set my motherboard on "fail safe mode" and it works, my screen doesn't hang anymore but it is so slow. what is the problem, is it my vcard or my motherboard? thanks. (",)

ok, i've already downloaded the driver from nvidia. it doesn't work.

  • tiger13 Jun 27, 2009

The NVIDIA Smart Scan was unable to evaluate your system hardware. Please use Option 1 to manually find drivers for your NVIDIA products.--NVIDIA. So i manually select the driver. yup it is the correct driver, i also have here the cd of the vcard.

This pc originally have no videocard, only the onboard. This pc previously was not mine, they gave it to me, so I'm trying to maximize it rather than buying a new one. (",)

Sounds to me like either the card is bad or you have a corrupt driver. If you remove the card will it start? then it is a bad card. If you uninstall driver either through safe mode (hold F8 at powerup before windows starts) or restore to last known working config (also F8). I suggest you go to nvidia website to download your drivers. let me know if you are still stuck, we'll work it out.

That is slightly strange. I have to ask if you are installing the right driver for the right operating system. Can you start in safe mode under the same conditions as it hangs in? do me a favor and installa nd run belarc, give me the full make and model of the mobo

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

Something to try while I look up your mobo is let nvidia find your driver. Just something to do

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

did you let nvidia do it or did you manually do it, I was just suggesting that you let them scan for the proper driver

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

did you have a video card originally

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

This is intriguiing to me at 4:00 in the morning lol. in safe mode you are using using generic vga drivers. Boot in safe mode , click star, run then type sfc /scannow, this will check the integrity of protected system files but you will need your operating system cd. There has to be a problem with your driver somewhere, are you plugged into the card this whole time?

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

ok might be a simple bios issue

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

not 100% sure if this will work in safe mode or not but you can try. Right click on the desktop, clicking
Settings, Advanced , then clicking the Troubleshooting
tab. Then turn off Write combining.

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

Not sure where you are but if it is not working yet, uninstall your driver(safe mode) , restart your computer and install these updates for your mobo, reinstall your driver then restart again.

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

OK I know I flooded you with stuff. I am tired and need to sleep, let me know where you are and I'll get back on this in the morning. Can't stand not being able to fix stuff like this we'll get it if you haven't already, hopefully you have. Let me know

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

thinking the scannow might just be windows ME my bad I'll get back with ya in the morning. Sorry to leave you hanging but I am tired LOL.

  • seth veloso Jun 27, 2009

hey man, just checking in on ya. I had some stuff to do this morning, you get your card to work yet?

Whats the best video card to get for gaming for a hp a350n oem specs are Video graphics NVIDIA GeForce4 MX (AGP video card) 8x AGP card Up to 64 MB DDR video TV-Out

Thats for PCI.

Thats for AGP. Id suggest the AGP Radeon 4670 for 124.00$. AGP runs slower than PCI, but not by much and the card is YEARS newer.

Hope this Helps!

Problem with NVidia GeForce4 MX 4000.

Your old Rage Pro is an AGP 2x, where the Nvidia is an AGP 8x.

The Nvidia is probably not compatible with your motherboard.

Also, I think Nvidia needs much more than 320 Mb ram.
