Upgraded RAM, added USB port card at rear panel ... now no worko

I upgraded the RAM, rebooted with no probs then added a rear-panel USB card using the second connector on the mother board now the machine doesn't reboot ... no signal coming from video card to monitor even just a non-responsive screen. Have removed the USB connector, cleared the BIOS with no change. Any suggestions?

Try reseating the RAM. If the computer won't even post it's probably a RAM problem. I worked on a machine about a year ago that took almost two days to get the RAM to seat properly. It was doing the same thing worked when it wanted to. I finally used the end of my BIC lighter to beat it in. You can try to reinstall the old RAM to see if the RAM is the problem or try installing it one stick at a time.

Upgraded ram 1gb wont boot hp 510 mobo 30C4

If you added another 512Mb RAM to increase the RAM to 1Gb then the new 512Mb memory stick could be incompatible with the original 512Mb or it could be faulty.
Use RAM that is same make and speed as the original RAM.
Remove both RAM and just insert the new 512Mb into your laptop and see if the laptop boots up, if not then the RAM could be faulty.

Please make sure that after installing the ram all the wires were properly installed to their respective places.

Usually the wireless adapter is mounted close to ram slots, so while installing the ram you might have jumped the wire.

Hope this will help.

You don't say what kind of monitor you have, but that's probably where the problem is. Most likely you have the new video card set for a higher resolution than the monitor can handle. When Windows starts up and switches to your settings, the monitor shuts down. Some monitors will display a message like "input signal out of range" before shutting off, but not all brands or models do.

Look up your model of monitor and find its maximum resolution, and don't set your card greater than that. Press the F8 key when your computer starts up after turning on the power, and choose the "start in VGA" option from the startup menu. This will allow Windows to come up with a resolution setting all monitors can handle. Then you can change your settings.

If you upgraded your video card because you have applications that require high resolutions that the monitor doesn't offer, you'll need to upgrade your monitor as well.

Thanks for using Fixya!

Can't drive av/c;multimedia hardwares;tvcard

Sounds like the card reader cables, USB cables, and Firewire, (1394) cables have been disconnected from the motherboard. I'm guessing granted, but it could have been when the TV card was removed, or perhaps when you were installing upgrades.

You've had the computer open, judging from the statement that you've upgraded it.

1.Computer off, and unplugged from the surge protector. Open the computer case. TOUCH the metal frame of the computer case, to relieve your body of static electricity.

2.You may have to use a flashlight. Look for the cables coming from the card reader. From the Front Panel. You may have to remove the Front Panel a bit, to peer in, and see which cables go to the card reader.

Finding these cables, follow them back to the motherboard. See if they're plugged in, plugged in tight, and if they are the right way around.
Do the same for the firewire ports, and the USB ports. Follow their cables.

Power to everything but CPU fan and case fan - won't boot

Hi this is tech crazy

The solution to the problem is as follows

The main reason for CPU fan overworking or not working is due to the load we put on the syatem while operating. So,the first reason for fan not working may be due to the SMPS malfunctionality.Better check out for it.The reason if fan is working but Overworking is due to viruses is system. So go in for format

Hope this solution helps you

call me craxy, but you may need to replace your power supply, and if its not that, it is a stuck or broken fan on your graphix card or your cpu.
