Sounds like the air/fuel mix is off.. there should be a adjustment screw on the side of the carburator use a screw driver and turn it slowly one way or the other till it starts running right

There is a governor adjustment on it.Find the governor spring coming from the carburetor the link will lead to a governor spring hooked to a metal tab,by bending the metal tab it will pull the spring tighter making the engine run at a higher rpm

If your carburetor has sat for a few months with fuel in it, the fuel may have gone bad. Fuel turns to turpentine after a while and leaves light yellow deposits behind. These deposits will keep your carb. from working properly. You need to dip the carb. in carburetor dip for a few hours to get rid of the deposits. You can also take the carb. to your local parts store where they may do it for free.
You may also have to replace the gasket and needle valve too if it has been sitting. So basically, you need to do a carburetor rebuild.
If the float sounds like it has liquid in it, you will need to replace it too.
Good Luck!

Check the governer, its a lever that pulls the throttle plate from the engine side. Try manually overriding it (twist it open as the engine's running) and see if that does it.

Hello, I am using the Craftsman 675 Brigs & Station 190 cc lawnmower, and I'm trying to turn up the throttle. It apparently does not have a throttle adjuster, and I was wondering if there is any way...

After researching the engine application, I see that this 675 is NOT an OHV engine. It appears it is the L (flathead) engine with the standard features. The 775-875 Platinum series mowers have OHV engine applications. That being said, many mowers have the carburetors with the governed throttles set to run at the the OEM mandated maximum speed. Some (like the Briggs Quantum series engines) have the throttle plate still attatched. You would need to bend it back up and install an aftermarket throttle cable assembley (like Murray makes). You would connect the carburetor end of the throttle cable to the hole in the plate assembly that has the governor spring attatched. Some even remove the governor entirely (internal governor has to stay in) and connect a throttle cable on the plate controlling the butterfly in the carb. Your unit may have this feature with the plate having a few different holes in it in which you could install the end of an add on throttle cable.

My Craftsman 675 190cc starts in full throttle what could be causing this

sounds like the carburetor is a little gummy and when the engine shuts off it goes to full throttle by the govenor for easy starting but is supposed to return to the set 3600 rpm. try spraying carb clean on the carb and wiggle the govenor arm to make sure it move freely
