Kdfe55a20 No flashing lights, screen just turns off, then i hear the thermal fuse after a few seconds and it turns back on. I've owned the tv for 3 years, is this a reasonable time for the bulb to go out in? I mean I don't want to pay 200 bucks every couple years for a freaking bulb. Is it a cleaning thing? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thnaks a lot -

It sounds like you have a thermal issue. The TV is getting too hot or the Thermal Fuse is bad. The thermal fuse detects the temperature in the TV and tells the TV to shut down if it thinks it is too hot. Most likely caused by poor ventilation or clogged fans from household dust. Try moving TV away from wall or cabinet first, if this does not fix the problem, clean ALL the fans in the TV. If problem still persists, replace the thermal fuse.
p# 19100239 6 blinks indicates fuse. Do not plug set into switched outlet. besure set is allowed to cool down before ac power is ever removed. Thermal fuse is on the optical block under the lamp housing. do goole search for part availability and source.
We reduced the picture size to 4:3 and was able to get quite a bit more life out of the lamp, without it shutting down. It does take awhile to get use to. But is much better than a dust catcher
When the lamp fails in this unit, often the thermal fuse opens. The error code is 6 blinks. To replace this part requires a great deal of deal of disassembly.
A 6 blink usually indicates a bad thermal fuse caused by the lamp temperature getting too hot. I strongly suggest replacing the sirrocco fan that mounts on top of the optical block too. Usually this fan gets clogged up with dust so the lamp temperature gets hotter than it should causing the thermal fuse to open up. Replacing the thermal fuse, sirrocco fan and cleaning the dust from the inside and fans will cure this. A Sony authorized servicer should be able to repair this for you. Good Luck
