IBM thinkpad will not turn on ...had been used for 2 hous earlier..could heat have been the problem

A Thermal error on the T43 usually indicates a problem with overheating. This can be caused by many reasons:
1. Dirt build up on fan or fan louvres causing fan to turn slowly and not being able to cool the system properly.
2. Blocking of air inlets to the laptop. Do not use on your lap, or on soft surfaces such as blankets, bedsheets, etc.

If you feel a lot of heat from the air out of the laptop, then the system is over heating.

You can run fan diagnostics as follows:
1. Turn on the computer and check the air turbulence at the louver near the PC Card slot.
2. Run Diagnostics --> ThinkPad Devices
--> Fan.

Is the fan still working blowing air out the back or side?

While I was not able to find that specific model of laptop, I was able to locate the CDRW Bay and based on my research this bay only supports the following models. Though it may look the same and even have the same interface, if it is not in the supported model list, it will not properly function.

To turn on the wireless on IBM Think Pad 2628 A20m you can try the below options

IBM
IBM General - Some models have the wireless slide button on the side of the laptop.
IBM DV series - use the antenna-like button found on the upper section of your keyboard.
IBM R40 - Use the Fn+F5 key-combo.
IBM Thinkpad (General) - Most have software switch or button on Left hand side.
IBM Thinkpad (model not further identified) wireless switch on Front edge of case.
IBM T43/X32 - Fn+F5 -Click "Turn On"
IBM ZD series use the antenna-like button just below the “Lock” key.

GO 2 CONTROLL PANNEL .DEVICE MANERGER .MICE AND OTHER POINTING DEVICES ,RGT CLICK PROPERTIES CHECK C IF THE DRIVERS WORKING ? HAVE FUN !!!!!!!!!!!!

There must be some driver you have installed recently. Try booting in safe mode and restore your system to an earlier date.
