your phone gets calls in and will associate the name it reads. For example if your friend JOE calls tthen the system will say Call from Joe. But if the number is unlisted or blocked the Call from Number Available message will sound. If you don't have call display the all number coming in are imarked as Number Available.
It's done in programming so the AUTO ANSWER button can control it. It needs to be dark and you need to tell the phone it's a TONE CALL. In a TA series that's done via (without picking up the handset) press PROGRAM 41 STORE. (42 is VOICE CALL and the button becomes the MUTE key).
Now, the AUTO ANS button toggles between ringing on the intercom and Voice Announce with Handsfree Answerback when lit.
Press TRANSFER and dial the extension (or press the DSS button). When they answer, announce the call and hang up. On their end, they don't have to do anything except stay on the line.
This is the info from the users manual, it seems a bit strange, but claims if you set the number of rings before it answers, (for the answering system) to "2" it will stop the audible caller ID. Here it is from the manual.
If you turn on the answering system and set the number of rings “2” (page 38), the unit does not announce the caller information. If “Toll saver” is selected and there is a new message, the unit does not announce the caller information. When you receive a call while on the phone, the 2nd caller’s name is not announced even if you subscribe to both Caller ID and Call Waiting with Caller ID services
What is the specific model of your phone. Typically there is a setting in your machine to set the "Recording Time". Uniden typically you can set to 1 minute, 4 minutes, or "Anounce only". This last one is probably what your is set to.
Typically pressing the "Menu" key will go to each setting for each time you press the button. Press menu until it announces "Recording Time" Then select 1 minute or 4 minute using the "Select" Button.
Okay this is very simple. i have the chocolate so you go to menu, settings and tools, phone settings, voice commands, call alert and then select ring only. and there you go, all done :)
