Re: 2000 Acura 1.6 EL back doors won't open
Have you lubricated them before? if so then what did you use? it may just be a gummed up locking mechanism but if the manual locks seem fine then it's probably an electrical issue. Is it only one door? do you use it often? it usually found in the bunch of wires that are all in a rubber tube going to the door, you can see them when you look where the hinges are and the door is open. I wouldn't go poking around in there yet. First go and see a parts place and get a wiring diagram that shows what wire colors are for when then you will have to find where they go. It is most likely a broken wire or bad connection. once you found out what does what then either test the wires with a multi meter available at any hardware store ,digital ones are best. adn if you find that the wire is bad then replace it. or repalce all the wire which may affect it. I would do the latter if it's only like 2 wires. hope this helps

The door catch is down or has lost a spring inside the hook No simple fix but too replace door latch inside In order to drive car with door that way no back seat passengers till fixed but use tie down ratchet straps from door to door inside handles This will keep door shut then can drive vehicle normal till door catch is fixed its simple hour job to replace just buy parts have mechanic shop install
if it won`t close look at the door latch mechanism. there should be two u shaped claws that close around the door striker plate pin, sometimes these get closed before the door is closed causing the door not to close and stay closed. if they are closed(claws) pull the door handle to open the door and take something and push the claws out(open) then close the door.
1) Key turns but dose not unlock door. This means that the rod that goes to the back of the lock has came off. This also means that is the reason door is not unlocking with the remote as it pops the lock rod inside the door which pushes the lock open. 2) Key does not turn lock at all but works passengers side door. This means that the locks has been changed in the door, but that doesn't sound like the problem as you say the remote doesn't open the drivers side door so more than likely the rod has came off the back of the lock
Open the door from the outside and while open look at latch mechanism on door.
There should be a small sliding or toggle lever and it only has two positions.
Flip it to the other position...and this should fix it.
This is a safety feature to keep children from opening the doors from the inside...
The problem is not the chain, it is the plastic gear in the unit of the liftmaster Garage Door 1/2 Hp.The plastic gear is not engaging, although it sounds like it is working.
You will have to replace it with a new one, then the liftmaster Garage Door 1/2 Hp will be able to open up once again.
Once you open and remove the old gear, Be sure to thread the screws in all the parts before you install them. Pre-threading them once would really
help. Secondly, label the wires on the back of the opener before
lowering it to the ladder, so you can put them back in their proper
you latch mechanism could be broken or came apart, common to any vehicle.. open the cover to the back and you will see the locking mechanism, once the rear cover open you can find the latch and open it form the inside. once you get the door open you can play with the door handle by pulling on it like you opening the door and you can observed what actually connect to what to operate the latch. if small rod attached from the door handle to the lock could pop off or broken. may have to replace the handle, depend if its broken or came apart. should be 30 buck for the new handle if needed..hope that help some..good luck
Are the doors manual or auto? Are your door lock actuators engaging when you hit the open/close button? Did you check all your fuses to make sure there all good? If every thing is checking good, and the door wont open from inside or outside, then your problem is : Inside your door are a series of rods, one goes from your inner door handle straight to the door lock assembly (it is dislocated from opening the door roughly) and one goes from the actuator to the door lock assembly which I believe also is dislocated, only way to fix this problem is to weasel your way through the edge of the door panel with a very long screwdriver (16-20") and a light and try to trigger the mechanism directly on the lock to open. This is alittle tricky and might require a trained technician to perform because with the door closed your panel might not come off which will raise the risk of destroying your door panel, in the long run paying a little money could save you a lot more if you break that panel!
