Question about Refrigerators
I have a whirlpool side by side model #GD5YHAXNL. The freezer is working well ( a little too well as everything is frosting over) bu the refrigerator isn't working at all. Please help.
Hi, The frost you are seeing is because the self defrosting cycle is not working. Remove the rear inside freezer panel and test the defrost heater and bi-metal switch for continuity, Ifeother part does not have continuity, it will need replaced. The bi-metal switch is the most common problem and is located on the top of the evaporator coil.
If both of these parts prove ok, the defrost board will need replaced. The defrost board is located in the fresh food section in the control panel.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further with this issue.
