Hi, The frost you are seeing is because the self defrosting cycle is not working. Remove the rear inside freezer panel and test the defrost heater and bi-metal switch for continuity, Ifeother part does not have continuity, it will need replaced. The bi-metal switch is the most common problem and is located on the top of the evaporator coil.
If both of these parts prove ok, the defrost board will need replaced. The defrost board is located in the fresh food section in the control panel.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further with this issue.

Side by side whirpool freezer not cooling how to check for defrost problem

The first signs of a defrost problem in a side by side are the fresh food section warms enough to spoil milk and bread. The back wall of the freezer will show frost buildup like in this photo HERE. If you have the frost building in the back of freezer then behind that wall you will most likely see this HERE Look around the fresh food section door frame for a model number like in the photo below.

If the problem is a frost related problem you will need to know what the model number is to decide just what type of defrost componentes your model will need. Decribe your problem a little better and I will tell you what you need to do from there. Just make sure someone has the model number because your model may have electronic defrost controls or a simple defrost timer. The defrost element could be the only problem. Check the back wall of the freezer for frost . If there is then it is either the defrost heater, timer or thermostat. If there is no frost check to see if the fan in the freezer is running.

We had the same thing and the problem was the frost sensor on the coils inside the freezer. It is behind the metal cover that gets all frosted up. When it works it senses frost on the coil and tells the control panel to activate the defrost wire which heats up the space melting any frost and then shuts off.

Our issue was the frost sensor but it could also be the heating element or the control panel. Anything in that little system.

There are a lot of possibilitys. You'll have to use the process of elimination.

But it could be the thermostat (make sure your setting is midway) The milk spoiling indicates it is too warm so bacteria is breeding

Get a refrigerator / freezer stand alone thermostat (about $5) That will give you accurate readings. The fridge shoud be between 35 and 40 F and the freezer 0 plus or minus 3 when set correctly

It could be your condensor fan is clogged or just that your coils need cleaning (underneath or behind) Use a vacuum with the brush end or chisel point. Dust can cut you efficiency by 20 or 30% by itself.

Assuming this is frost free model the defrost timer may be acting up in the freezer.

Forgive me for not knowing where the coils are and if it is frost free but I can't find a manual for this particular model. However the principles apply in any case.
