Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My Estate Dryer (by Whirlpool) appears to run appropriately, but it is producing no heat. I am not sure what the problem is, but during the process of unscrewing the power cord from the back panel on the machine, I accidentally forgotten to unplug it and a few sparks flew. The ?neutral? connection of the panel is blackened out?could this be the problem for a ?lack of heat? being produced?

Mighta blowed the high limit mounted on the heater element housing at the top. If it runs then the fuse ain't blown. But the high limit will.

My dryer spins and heat just a little but not enough to dry any clothes

Need to change the heater filament. The heater filament has several portions to produce heat. As it ages, some portions are not producing heat anymore hence the total heat produced by an old filament can not put out as much as originally designed.

I have a Estate Whirlpool model#TGD5740. Smells like smoke when running. Still drys with heat and runs fine. What would cause this

You could have a build up of lent inside the dryer which might have ignited. Dryer should be dissasembled and cleaned.
Could be that your motor is over heating.
Depends on what type of smell your smelling;.If its the motor over heating, motor would have to be replaced.
