Question about Homedics Health & Beauty

1 Answer

Recently I bought the BK 900 massager from thrift store. It did'nt come with adapter. So i plugged a 12V adapter which I had. But it did'nt work. Infact the hand control got hot and there was little burning smell from the control. So I unplugged the adapter and I ordered the PP-ADPEM3 adapter from Homedics for $10. Even with this recommended new adapter, the massager is not working. Did I screw up initially by using a wrong adapter. If so can you tell me a fix for this please? Is there a way to diagonize the problem with the massager. Your feedback will be appreciated.Thanks

SOURCE: Can't disassemble massager.

I don't have the Homedics programmable, but I have taken apart my Brookstone programmable (and lots of old Homedics massagers).

I'm going to guess the screws concealment method is similar. On the under side of the massager, look for small oval-shaped outlines that are the same color as the rest of the body. Mine had four. These are little plastic plugs that you can pry out with a tiny flat screwdriver or a razor blade. The screws are hidden under these plastic plugs.

I hope this helps

I have a Sharp VL-L270U that I bought at a thrift store. I dont have a battery charger and I've tried plugging it into a 12v lead but nothing ever happened. I want to get this thing on and running.

You will be needing a charger that is particularly suited to your device.
There are, out there, hundreds of different chargers, each is different.
Having said that, even if you get the right one, the unit you bought may not work, as it may have failed.
Some thrift stores have a bucket of chargers, but to start, look with a magnifying glass at your unit to see if it will tell you exactly and precisely what amps, ohms, volts, etc. you will need.
Remember too, the tiny plug can be reversed with the positive and negative interchanged, so you must get that right also.
God bless your efforts.,

I lost the part you push the fruit and veggies down with. where can I get a replacement

Look for the model number of your juicer and the make (like ge juiceman etc) and type that and the word parts into goggle Maybe you can find the manufacturers and ask if they sell parts. if you cannot find the model number. try looking at juicers art amzon or ebay to see if you see your juicer..try that model number and look at the pusher to see i you think it will fit but having the real model number is better as you may think you have the right juicer and it is not the same.

I recently bought that part for my juicer on amazon and cost me $20. a week later I found the exact same juicer including the part I just bought for $20 so I bought in for both parts and if I want to use it upstairs as well as downstairs as juicing a lot for aggressive cancer.

So you might see it at a thrift store. would not be the right sixe or as good but maybe you can find a food processor at a thrift store and use that pusher. the often have juicer for sale at thrit stores ranging from $6 to about $20..test it by plugging it in and seeing if it works or any smoke comes out. This might be cheaper than finding as replacement plunger.

You can get another one at any computer store, but even much less expensive is at any local thrift or "Goodwill" store that should have lots and lots of used computer stuff very cheap.

Need power supply -- what are compatible power supplies?

Take a look where the power-adapter connects into the speakers. Also, look on the "brick" of the power-adapter.

Look for 'AC' or 'DC'.
Look for '6V' or '9V' or '12V' or '18V'.
Look for the Amperage rating.
If 'DC', look for the small pictograms, either:
* ring-positive-post-negative, or,
* ring-negative-post-positive

With that information, check Thrift Stores, and then check the "big-box" computer stores.

Ac adapter

Hi I am an Indian too !

Of course you can use the 220v AC adapter, it will not harm your massager but may only underperform [slow speed, slow vibrations etc]

And be aware that the foreign products you receive, and have adapters rated at 120v are bound to get busted if you use them here in India, don't use them at first place.
Rather, buy an adapter rated for 220-240v for the same output voltage as that of 120v
