Question about Sony Cybershot DSC-S950 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Hello. I have recently gotten a Sony DSC-s950 SteadyShot. Yesterday, I plugged in the camera and later took it out. But when attempting to view the photos inside of it, all I get is a very small box in the center that looks like a bunch of meshed up colors. When I connect to the computer though, I am still capable of seeing the images. Any help on this would be gladly appreciated.

Thank you for the response CyberMaster. However, that is not the problem. I'll attempt to explain this a bit further:

Upon hitting the "look at images" button on the camera, the last picture is displayed as normal. However, some of the photos back in the archives look somewhat like this now:

Except they don't take up the whole screen and don't even take a second to finish decompressing from its grainy state. It happened this morning, and I have a feeling it may be attributed to the USB or computer.

Ah, I found the answer. Though what you said was wrong, it did lead me on the right track.

I tried and then after thinking about it, attempted to find some sort of common pattern. I then thought "Perhaps taking a few more pictures like that guy said would work". I took a vertical picture and then realized "I'm going to need to rotate this inside of the computer so it looks good."

And that's when it hit me - each of the pictures that refuse to appear were all rotated and then saved. The camera is apparently unable to display those, but it explains alot and the correlation is undeniable.

Thank you very much for the assistance Cyber Master. I appreciate it.

How about download your photos to your PC. then you disconnect the USB cable, remove the batteries for a minute and press on and off botton several times. Place the batteries back on and RESET your camera.

Now take several pictures and hopfully everything would be back to normal. If not, I am not sure what else????

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took a couple of photos on my Sony DSC-S950 and my memory card was not intalled properly. The photos were saved to the internal memory. How can I transfer them to the memory card?

Hi Monica,

If you want to transfer(copy) the photos from the internal memory to your memory card, follow the instruction below.

You can also view the procedure by downloading the User's Manual at When you are on the link, click "Download the Document", enter your email add and confirmation number, then click "Download Now" to automatically begin the download. It is free and safe website, I used it personally.
Turn to page 61.

I have a DSC-W150 Super SteadyShot and recently I took some pictures and now it doesnt let me view the pictures on the memory stick and the screen blacks out. But if I take out the memory stick and take...

On some cameras, once you activate and use the internal memory, the regular memory card no longer works properly. You need to format the internal memory with no card in the camera to get your card to work again.

Recently purchased Sony Cybershot DSCW180. Took 3

Yes, you need to have memory stick because camera has limited internal memory that can store few pictures only.
Put new memory card, format it through camera Menu and copy internal memory pictures to memory stick, take our memory card from camera and delete internal memory pictures either one by one or format internal memory through camera Menu.

DSC-S950 camera problem help!!!!

There is definitely some sand or dust stuck in the lens well between the body and the lens housing. Use your vacuum cleaner to pullout the dust particles from there. It is this stuckup dust that is making the noise. Also while pulling out the dust keep powering on and off the camera.
