Question about Char-Broil Grilling

Open Question

I just assembled my charbroil model 46361009. I

I just assembled my charbroil model 46361009. I had only one problem with assembly, the ignitor wire does not fit over the ignitor button spark part. When I placed the ignitor wire over the spark part, it lit with no problem, only the ignitor wire immediately falls off and is no longer connected. I'm not sure where exactly it should be connected, but when I put it over the metal part of the end of the ignitor switch, it lit the grill. I don't know if this is right, or if the wire is too small, the ignitor switch too big???? Help

SOURCE: I need the assembly instructions for a Four Seasons Gas Grill

I purchased this grill and assembled it yesterday. I noted the area that is providing confusion as it is wrong. Please follow the following instructions. It is quite simple when you have a background in electrical and electronics engineering. These directions should translate my knowledge into step by step instructions for all.

1. Attach the two thinner wires with two terminals on each wire, from the front of the grill head to the larger (Input or Control) terminals on the igniter assembly. These two wires are from the push to turn micro switches on each of the burner control knobs on the grill head. Attach the two smaller terminals on these thinner wires to the micro switch on the side burner control connected as part of the regulator and hose assembly.

2. Attach the three thicker wires from the front of the grill head to three of the six smaller (output) terminals on the igniter assembly. These wires go to the igniters themselves.

3. Connect the two thicker wires from the rear of the grill head to two of the six output terminals on the igniter assembly. The small wire is for the igniter on the bottom infrared burner and the larger, thermally insulated wire, connects to the igniter on the rear infrared burner.

4. Connect the lead from the side burner to the remaining small output terminal on the igniter assembly.

5. Mount the igniter to the front of the right side shelf by removing the battery cover and hexagonal nut. Insert the shaft through the hole in the front of the right side shelf and secure with the hexagonal nut. Replace the battery cap. Do not install the battery at this time.

6. Mount the side burner control by inserting the long end of the control into the side burner assembly. Attach the control to the front of the right side shelf with the two screws held in the front of the control assembly. NOTE: You must remove the screws from the control assembly and insert them through the Off/On bezel and front panel of the right side shelf before screwing them back into the control assembly. Install the control knob for the right side shelf. Verify that the connections to the side burner control micro switch made in step 1 are still intact.

7. Insert the battery into the igniter assembly by removing the batter cap and inserting the AA size battery with the positive (pointed) end out. Replace the battery cap.

8. Test the igniter assembly prior to installing the gas tank and installing the “Flame Tamers” and grates by pushing in on each burner control knob in turn. Listen for a popping sound and look for sparks at each burner.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a charbroil, advantage series grill. It isn't lighting.

How rusted are the burners? It is possible there is rusted metal blocking the gas ports. I don't have enough information from you regarding the problem...do you hear the gas flowing when you turn the burner open and the gas bottle is open?

Go to your user's manual, there should be an illustrated parts list. From there you can order new burners...you can also do this at Char-Broil's website.

Burner replacement is easy: take the grills out, then remove the flame tamers (the tent looking thing that sits over the burner to prevent flame-ups), the burners are screwed in to the grill at the back, remove the screws then grab the burner, pull towards the back of the grill and then up...this will disengage it from the gas valve in the front of the grill. Putting in a new one is the exact revers of this procedure...just make sure when you put the new ones in you make sure the burner's gas intake is connected to the valve at the front of the grill. Once done, you should be good to go.

Dryer is not heating. where is the heat sensor on DLE5001W

On a gas dryer the gas assembly is simply powered up by a sensor on the blower housing. If heat is called for from upstairs the power flows through the bimetal mounted on the blower housing. Here is a simple bi-metal: themobilian_2460.jpg
See the 4 wires? 2 of them wires operate a small heater inside the control. when it gets heated it shuts down faster for permapress and knits. Next to the control is a fuse on most models as seen here:
themobilian_2461.jpg
That fuse blows if the air temp exceeds 350f. That control thermostat at its hottest setting of cotton shuts down at 160f. It ramps back up at 105f. and continues to send power to the gas assembly till it feels 160f and then it shuts down. SOOO.. if we have a good fuse and a good thermostat 120 volts should get to the gas assembly if heat is needed. The gas assembly has a flame sensor which detects the heat bouncing off the ignitor. An ignitor to light off the gas, and a pair of holding coils. The whole gas assembly is energized at one. But them coils will not supply gas until the ignitor drops out if the circuit. To do so the flame sensor bi metal must shut down the power to the ignitor and that frees up the power to charge them coils and yank open the valve. The gas hits the ignitor and whoosh we have fire in the hole. It takes literally no time for the temp to reach 160 in the blower housing and so the power is removed from the gas assembly and the dryer tumbles onward absorbing the heat till the temp drops down to 105f and that control once again powers up the gas assembly. If your flame sensor is working and shutting down the ignitor and the heat works once or twice but quits then them solenoids are getting hot and quitting because they are old and weak. Replace em and party on.

I had to change the burner but now the igniter will not automatically ignite when pressing the button. What should I do?

The piezo ignitor head my need to be adjusted so that it is closer to the burner. If it is not sparking at all, check for a loose wire at the piezo ignitor and trace it back to the ignition button. Often times, it will simply lost it's ground. To resolve this, carefully pull the ignitor wire off the piezo pin and the push it back on. Do the same thing on the back of ignitor button.

If none of the above solves the problem, it's time to replace the ignition systems. The parts are inexpensive and can be purchased on-line directly from Char-Broil http://www.charbroil.com/Store/ReplacementParts.aspx or from any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. These will be universal fit model ignitors .

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Where do you hook up the sideburner ignitor wire to on the char-coil bbq model 463721111

The side burner ignitor wire connects to the spare lug on the main ignitior module. That one module, controls all the spark ignitors at each main burner and the side burner. When you press the button all ignitors spark at one time. I know it sounds stupid, but that's the way Charbroil's R & D designed it. I guess it saves money.

Hope this helped you to make the final hookup. Happy Grilling!!

Need to know where to connect igniter button to where side burner is still connected not main burners

According to your Owners Manual, the side burner uses the same electronic ignitor as the main burners. I know that sounds odd, but that's what Charbroil often does with their igrills.

To help you with further insight and in case you've misplaced your Owners/Assembly Manual, I have included a link to it that you can download and print for future reference, if you like.

How do I get the gas burner off so I can see the ignitor?

Turn off the gas at the tank. Remove the main grille wire. Looking up from the back you should see one clip on each venturi, these hold the burner on the tubes. Note the placement of the clips, to ease replacement.
The clips hook on both ends.
Remove both clips and carefully slide the burner toward the back and lift out. There's quite a jolt if you touch the ignitor while striking. Good luck. see link for charbroil replacement parts. http://www.charbroil.com/Consumer/ReplacementParts.aspx?ProductID=461
