Are you using HDMI? because if you are using HDMI you may have im not sure what you call it but its 1080P 1080i 720p 720i etc. you might have a channel that is on 1080p but your tv might only support 720P or so on but if thats not the problem its some type of hardware issue sorry if this dosint help.

Do not throw that one out yet. It will probably be cheaper to have that one fixed than to get a new 50+ inch high def tv. Especially if you know someone with some basic electronic skills like pulling a fuse.
Try this:
When the TV is on and switch from one AV source to another (like going from DVD player to TV) does the TV show you what the source is (AV1, AV2, AV3, etc.) in the upper left hand corner? Or does that not even show?
Do you get your source from Cable company or just an antenna plugged into the rear?
What is the AV source that you are trying to get a picture on? (Chan. 3, AV1, AV4, etc.)

I have a Sharp flat panel model LC-20SH4U. The units power LED light is red. No effect (sound or picture) when remote or on/off switch is activated. The LED light slightly blinks.

Resetting the TV
If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:

NOTE:
Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.

Vizio VW32LF powers up no sound no picture unplug to turn off

I had the same problem after having a Vizio for 2 and a half years. I left the room for a minute, i came back and the screen went black. There was still power to the unit and you could see that the back light was working, just no picture, no sound, and you couldn't use any of the buttons. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. It would then start up, with the Vizio logo going from orange to white, and then do the same thing all over, no pic or sound.

HOW I FIXED MINE: I ordered a new "main PCB" from tigerdirectparts.com (you can also use searspartsdirect.com). This is the circuit board with all of the inputs on it (hdmi, cable, etc.) I opened it up, disconnected the old one, put in a new one and now it works fine.I used both serial numbers on the board to search for it online. It cost me $144 to do it, but that's better than $450 for a new TV. My tv is the vx32l hdtv10a. I hope that helps.
