I have to turn it off and then on and nurse it along a foot at a time when going up slight inclines on the street. This makes it very difficult to get around.

The first thing to do is make sure the feed dogs are supposed to be feeding the fabric through. Check the lever or button that raises and lowers the feed dogs. Make sure it is in the position for ordinary sewing. If it is not, then move it to the correct position. Then, without any fabric under the presser foot, turn the main shaft of the machine by hand and watch the feed dogs underneath the presser foot. Don't simply look down at the dogs. Lower your viewpoint so that you're looking from front to back just SLIGHTLY above the horizontal level of the sewing deck. While looking at the area right where the feed dogs are, watch to see if the dogs a rising SLIGHTLY above the level of the deck. If they aren't, and if the feed dog lever is in the correct position for ordinary sewing, then something is out of adjustment or is broken. If you are not mechanically inclined or if you are totally terrified of opening up your machine to take a look, you'd better take it to a shop and let them do it.
this is normal as there is clearance built into the parking pawl in the transmission to make it easier to go from park to a gear. I`m guessing this happens when you put the car in park on a slight incline. if you walk up to any car and push against it when its in park it will roll slightly until the clearance is taken up in the parking pawl, this is the clearance that you have.
hi, there could be a whole number of reasons why this is now happening, from experience i would say either the controller is cutting out (heat, too much current ?) or the brake may be coming on ( low battery voltage , poor batteries) slight incline will load the batteries , to a faulty over current reset button however that would have popped out
Check the brushes, remove a brush and smell the end , smell burning ?
if so there is either a badly fitted brush or the commutator is starting to break down,,, cleaning here could help...
check for connections esp from the controller to the motor and brake....
Remember , if you have recently changed your batteries, how good is your charger voltage wise ?
It sounds like you have a membrane issue. There are a number of different T9450 models and they all have slightly different consoles. You'll need your serial number to help pinpoint the parts you need. Your best bet is to go through the manufacturer (johnsonfit.com) and have them help you get the correct membrane and overlay.
try this test
place in neutral with the park brake on
start the engine if it idles alright put your foot on the brake
if it falters or plays up ,it is a vacuum leak in the brake booster
replace the booster
Try this calibration procedure.
Turn the power switch on. Remove the safety key. Hold the Stop and Speed Up or Speed Plus buttons down then insert the safety key.
The display should show some numbers.
Press the stop key one time and the display should show some other numbers and some 00's. Press the Incline Up button and see if the Incline begins to move, if it does let it go all the way up and then all the way down, wait a few seconds after it stops, then hit the stop key 4 times. It should be calibrated. If it didn't move then the board or the incline motor is bad.
