I've got the exact same problem. It's an Overheating error, but I don't know if it's got a bad fan or temp sensor? Bad design?

Ho do I open a Denon remote control unit

Make sure there are no hidden screws , top and bottom of remote snap together, usually top snaps over bottom so you have to slide something between halves and push in on bottom or pull out on top to get them to seperate.

You can try a hard reset: Unplug unit from AC mains and remove all cables from unit . Wait about 3 hrs and replug to AC power and redo the cabling. Switch on the unit and see if it works..

Denon receiver problems

Check sound from headphones. These models have been known to have bad headphone jacks that make the unit think there are headphones plugged in even when there isn't. Sometimes just plugging in headphones and unplugging them will fix it for a while.

Denon 1908 no sound

Try inserting a headphone plug into the headphone jack and remove it. Sometimes these units have a problem in the headphone jack where the unit thinks there are headphones plugged in even when there isn't. This cuts all the audio output to the speaker jacks. If you never plan on using the headphone jack, you can also go inside of unit and unplug the cable that goes to the headphone jack board. Just make sure you unplug the unit before you do this, the plug is close to the main power switch.

Every time I switch on my denon dht 500 sd it turns on then the word protected comes on then shuts off

My guess is you have uninsulated speaker wires touching, probably in the back of the receiver. If speaker wires touch (short) like that, it should put the system into protect mode to keep from blowing the amplifier section. Good luck!

HI FixYa ,got a problem with my Denon DHT 500-SD . We were listening to the sound system ( it was on for about 2-3 hours). There was aloud pop sound and the system went dead .Is this a common problem? Is...

No, the pop was caused by the mechanical failure of a component - it got shorted or it has literally exploded. Because of that there is nothing you can do to fix it: the unit must be opened, tested, the failed part identified and replaced - all this must be done by a specialist, at a repair shop. You will have to send it to one, no way around that.

"PROTECT" appears on my DENON DHT-500SD

Sounds like a speaker wire is shorting against either another speaker wire or something metallic. Check your speaker wires to make sure they're not shorting (touching). If that doesn't work, I'd take it to a repair facility. Good luck!

Denon DHT-500SD system and want what is on TV to come through 500

You could try the optical route. You should be able to use the analog RCA audio outputs of the TV to the analog TV or VCR audio inputs of the receiver as well. Select the appropriate input on the receiver and you should have TV audio.

Receiver will not respond from imputs from the TS160 remote

You are probably using a non-oem remote or one that is from another receiver, not the one that originaly came with the unit.

You should try to get one with the factory remote and not try to save a few bucks.

Maybe a neighbor has complete unit you could get for a reasonable price.
