There is one way to test a remote control. Turn on your pc cam. Face the remote control to it, and as you press any of the buttons you should see blinking lights from the Infrared emmitter diode. Our eyes can't see this but a pc cam can. You can also use a camcorder or a camera phone. If you see light blinking the remote is bad. Just get another remote, maybe a universal one. If the remote blink most likely the problem is the device in which you are using the remote to control whatever it is. In the front there is an infrared recieving module. Try replacing that, you would have to open the device of course, and make sure you don't touch ruin anything in there with static electricity. You would need a soldering iron, a desoldering wick, and some solder to replace it. Other than that it is a job for electronic technician.
