Have come into owning a simplicity dryer model SWM55ooW and simplicity washer model SWM5500W which were in a condo I bought. Attempting to obtain an operating manual thru the internet has not been possible. Can you direct me to the Simplicity manufacturer? Appreciate J R Kenney

Westdvidm, you're obviously not old enough, check this out.. it is older than the Simplicity's I knew of, which were like 1970s washer/spin dryers, like a Hoover....only simplicity... But, this is WAY cooler... http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2194&dat=19610428&id=CtwxAAAAIBAJ&sjid=OOUFAAAAIBAJ&pg=2546,3819032

My Simplicity dryer is making a gear grinding sound inside the black plastic cowling. It is not the motor and the dryer runs and works fine.

I need manual. i dont even know where to put the detergent and fabric softener. i just bought condo with eurotech wsher and dryer, but no instructions. can i get a manul locally?

Hello, If you could provide the model number to your washer it would allow us to try and search for your manual for your unit. Or if the manual is not available online then I would try to help contact the manufacturer in order so that they may provide your manual for you. I await your reply Thanks Rick

Washer temp setting changes by itself

I also have a Whirlpool washer/dryer for my condo, although I don't know the model number of mine. I had the same problem -- after it was precisely a year old, suddenly one day the hot and cold started coming out reversed. I was able to fix mine by more or less temporarily fiddling with the water pressure. What I did was one time, when the rinse cycle was running and the washer was filling up with hot water (grrrr...), I completely shut off the valve supplying hot water. So at that point the water stopped filling into the washer, and then I started tinkering with the cold water, twisting the valve off and on a few times. Then BINGO, suddenly the cold water "kicked in" and for the remainder of the rinse cycle, it filled the washer with cold water. I then turned the hot water valve back on, and since then it has been running correctly.

I currently have a stackable W/D made by GE in my condo. However, the Washer just broke and it would cost $500 to fix it. So the contractor suggested it might be better for me to just purchase a new one....

sears will give you 10% towards your next purchase if you call them out for the repair and decide not to do the repair. but will cost you the trip fee. depending on what is actualy wrong with the unit, every repair person is going to give you their own price. w/a model # and the problem all i can do is educate you on parts costs... hope this helps

Takes the dryer over two hours to dry one load of laundry. It appears to be putting out hot air. When I stop it to check the clothes, the clothes are usually really warm yet still wet. This has been going...

You have a venting problem. Some makes of condo size dryers have a lint screen inside the drum at the back. Check and clean. If not then there might be a screen in the wall or the ceiling of the room the dryer is in. Trace the vent from the dryer to the wall or ceiling. There should be a vent fan in the ceiling. Try asking the condo property management if there is an exhaust fan in the wall that needs cleaning.

Dryer capacity

Yes, a full size dryer as yours is easily capable of drying a full sized load from the washer you mentioned. The wash tubs in the new model washers and dryers still maintain a standard size. For example, the front loader dryer that I purchased to match my front loader washer is completely identical to earlier standard models without all the fancy packaging. I could have saved some money and purchased only the washer, but...the wife needed a matching pair.

Now, you will still have to properly sort items to ensure they dry efficiently. A copy of your dryer owner's manual will describe this to you. I'm not here to give you lessons in how to dry your clothes, but if you do not own a copy of your manual and would like to refer to it, you can obtain a copy at geappliances.com. Just look under the "Service and Support" section for "Use and Care Manuals". Just type in your model number and your owner's manual is availble in a downloadable .pdf format.

The point I'm attempting to make here is that although you can place a full load from your washer in the dryer, if you do not properly separate certain items, they will not dry properly. I did not want you to think this was a cause of the appliance.

In addition, make sure the dryer vent ducting is properly cleaned and not clogged anywhere. This can also contribute to longer dry times.

I know you were only asking a simple question. I just wanted to be thorough in case additional question may arise. I hope this information is helpful to you.
