Question about Husqvarna "Chain Saw - 16" Bar, 3 Hp

1 Answer

Husqvarna 136 chain brake handle spring.

What are the steps for installing the double loop spring in to the husqvarna 136 chain brake handle? The spring fits in the gray handle above handle bolt and grommets. I think I know where the spring goes but I can't figure out the final assembly.

I don't think this has the detail you need.
If it were me I'd visit my friendly neighborhood Husky chainsaw seller (not Big Box Store) and ask to look at the clutch cover with the brake installed (take a camera). I'd probably ask for a quote for their repair too. HTH

Your model is no longer sold. The seller will know what model replaced it and may be willing to explain the repair procedure for your saw you. Take the cover and loose parts with you.

How to remove the chain from a husqvarna 235e chainsaw?

Like this or pretty close.

  1. Cock brake while expanding chain brake binder by pulling brake handle towards left-hand (wrap-around) handle grip, hard, until it locks in place.

  2. Loosen 2 brake-asssembly-and- bar retaining nuts but do not remove yet.

  3. Unscrew (turn CCW) bar adjustment screw on front face of unit in order to shorten bar and slacken saw chain.

  4. Slip chain off bar over bar tip and towards inward side of bar.

  5. Remove two nuts loosened in step 2 and pull brake assembly and bar straight out and off bar mounting studs.

  6. While rotating clutch/brake-drum, maneuver saw chain off sprocket and around drum perimeter to remove from saw.

  7. Repeat/reverse steps 6 thru 1 in that order to reassemble.

Install side cover on 455 rancher with chain break

Problem is you removed side cover with chain brake closed. You must open the chain brake to re-install the cover. You can do it with the handle. Put the side cover into position, put the handle into the fitting on the side cover. push the handle forward until you feel the "3" point connector engage. apply pressure to the handle and pull back until the side chain brake "Pops" open. Your Husqvarna dealer has a tool to open the chain brake if you are unable to get it open. Takes about 5 mins.

How do I remove the chain on a Husqvarna 455 Rancher chain saw

Start by making sure the chain brake is off, pull the hand guard fully back to the top handle, remove the bar nuts ( 13mm ) if it has tooless chain adjustment flip the nut wing out and undo the big grey nut, screw the chain adjuster fully back, if tooless wind the knurled adjuster fully back, now remove the side cover/brake assembly, loop the chain off the nose of the bar, and then over the sprocket and remove.

Sounds like the blade brake is engaged. You should be able to pull the blade brake handle, located on top of the saw, in front of the top handle, back towards the handle to disengage it. You can find replacement bars, chains & sprockets for your saw at Partsbuggy.com.
