I would be careful if I was you.To replace a pcb you will need to have the right equipment and expertise. You will probably need to have a soldering iron,a meter etc..and a slight mistake while soldering could be disastrous to this camera. So be careful,if I were you I would try to get a sort of mobile ac power, like a 10w or something would do enough for this camera. There is no point to spend money fixing it as it is costing too much.I hope this helps.

Hi,

This would be highly technical. Not sure of your expertise but since its the main part of a handycam would suggest to either go for a new handycm or get an expert to do it for you.

Remove ALL electrolytic caps. Very carefully inspect underneath caps for trace damage. If there is, install a jumper (esp. under 47uf caps. This will fix your problem. Carefull with this camera, I will not hardly fix them anymore due to main pcb and sensor pcb damage from electrolite. Replace all grip caps and evf will work.

Thanks for contacting Fixya

The lense sutter of Sony DCR-HC90 MiniDV is blocked by sand (I was filming on the beach) and does not open when camera is on. Is there is a way to clean it?

The lens cover mechanism in these cameras is susceptible to debris and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My Sony Handycam DCR-HC30E mini DV is not working

In many cases I found DC Jack defective in this model and resulted does not charge battery through ac charger nor power up directly with ac charger.
I would suggest to check ac charger and battery on similar model Sony camcorder and I think your camcorder has DC jack problem thats why camera is not getting power from ac charger.

Sony Handycam DCR-TRV330 Digital-8 won't calibrate tapes to be able to view

hi there. i just actually had this problem right now. and heres how i fixed it :) it had the error so i took out the tape left it ejected for about 5 seconds. then put the tape back. it read for a little then errored again so it was close. next what i did is plugged the camera in (last time this error happened i plugged in the power and it fixed it) still no fix so i took off the battery waited 5 seconds then put it back on. after that i ejected the tape again and re put it in and it worked! you could try anyone of those things. and usually they work for me. maybe it has something to do with the cameras being old.

Battery life?

Here is a replacement source

The batteries are covered under warranty for three years. Sony batteries are know for not keeping a good charge after a few years.

If there not holding a charge, they wouldn't appear on the LCD screen at all. I the AC power is working fine, then that probably isn't the source for not getting a charge.

You could try lightly scraping the contacts on the battery and see if that makes a difference and recharge them.
