Question about Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook

1 Answer

DVD/CD Drive reads some disks and not others. Just ran a system restore but that did not solve the problem. I cannot find any correlation among the disks it will read and the disks it won't.

Trouble with Dvd player in Dell Inspiron 530

Find the small pin hole on DVD player and use a straightened paper clip to manually eject in case there is a stuck disc.

Use system restore to roll back your system. Look for a restore point longer than the three days.

I don't see a correlation between the two because the system should work even you don't have an optical drive (CD\DVD).

After formatting my dell vostro 1510 DVD drive will not read or play DVD discs

If you reinstalled Windows from the Dell-provided "System Restore" CD/DVD disks, you should be able to play DVD disks.

If you reinstalled Windows from some "other" Windows disks, you should be able to view the files/folders on any DVD-disk, but you will be lacking the software to properly "decode" those files, and to "play" the content.

Unable to restore back to factory image read error

Are you using Factory CD/DVD or Made from utlity Disks or from hard drive utility option.
This seems to be a CD read error.
I found the same error code need help for posted for HP, Compaq, Gateway, ETC.
ALL new setups with the MAKE RECOVERY DISK UTILITY and NO factory disks.
Factory recovery disks are available for $60 and up from manufacturers.
Other option is Install Retail OS - get drivers from manufacturer - Install software you want to use.
Other option is expensive but reliable.
Factory option would be for your system only.

No operating system

Remove the disk-drive from your computer, and connect it as a "slave" drive on some other computer. See if you can read _any_ files from it, and burn those files to CD-R/DVD-R disks. On that other computer, run the "CHKDSK" utility to see if it can "repair" any file-system errors.
If not, use the "FORMAT" utility to "wipe" the hard-drive, and to see if the disk-drive is still in good condition.

Then, buy a new hard-drive, install it, re-install Windows, and restore your files from those CD-R/DVD-R backups.

When i turn the pc on it goes to hit f1 to cont of f2 and then it says it can not read the hard drive

First open cpu cabinet.
Then reattach both connection cable power cable and sata or ide cable to harddrive.
Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios then check there your harddisk is detected?
If your harddisk is detected in bios you can boot your harddrive.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

Hello my Dell Studio 1435, it can read CD but not reading DVD... it give noise when i put DVD..

Try using a good quality DVD cleaner first. The lens for cd/dvd are different so one may work if the other is dirty. If cleaning does not work then the dvd lens may be out of alignment or broke. With today's prices it is cheaper to replace the drive $30-40 than try to repair it. Hope this helps.
