The problem most likely is a failed start relay located on the compressor itself. Other possibilities are a burnt and broken wire on the compressor from running hot or The compressor itself may have failed and is "tripping" on it's thermal or current overload.

Hi,

Unplug unit from the wall, remover the start relay from the compressor and shake it. If its solid possible bad compressor, if it sounds loose (broken part) then most likely bad relay. Verify your model number as you are missing some letters.

Good Luck

Kenmore 7.5 freezer stopped working.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just replaced the overload relay and it does the same thing. Runs for a few seconds and the loud click from overload relay. I did notice the relay is really hot to the touch, if that matters.Coils on back are clean. I had noticed the last few months that the inside coils were frosting up quite a bit.Really had hoped it was the relay.

Amana refrigerator/freezer started making a buzzing noise and stopped working. Inside lights do work, but nothing cools.

based on your description i would guess that the start relay on the compressor has failed or the compressor it self is the buzz you are hearing... if the noise would come and last for 5-20 seconds and then stop or click sound made then that is the compressor trying to start but kicking out on overload. it usually after sometimes a few minutes or sometimes in thirty minutes will try again once the compressor gets hot enought it may take longer.. you will have to gain access to rear of unit and on compressor is a relay that may have failed. make a drawing of the wires and remove sometimes (2) seperate pieces see if it rattles or smells burnt. if so get you a new relay and may have caught it early enough to not have done any other damage... repost with anymore questions good luck to you...

Every 3-4 minutes the a very loud buzzing sound occurs for ~20 seconds. It sounds like it is coming from the compressor area. The fridge and freezer are both working well.

It sounds like the starting components on your compressor are bad. the buzzing is your compressor trying to start and then shutting down on its overload. You will need to replace your starting components on the side of the compressor (start relay and overload) which will usually come in a kit together. Good luck _MJ_

you can replace the relay with a 3 in 1 made by supco. i generally just use a supco 0410.

My air conditioner is on but not blowing cold air and buzzes

The compressor is not starting. The buzzing noise you hear is the compressor trying to start and then the thermal overload trips. When it cools it will try to start again. Could be a bad capacitor or the compressor is bad. These two units need to be tested to see which one is bad. A capacitor is inexpensive. If it's the compressor it will be cheaper to buy a new AC.

My refrigerator buzzes for 5 or so seconds then

the buzzing noise your hearing is possibly your compressor trying to start up. this is generally a buzzing for 5-7 seconds followed usually by a click noise if it goes on for several hours you will notice the temps in the unit starting to rise. for alot of may tags with the tecumseh compressor the compressor had to be replaced. if it has an embraco compressor you can just replace the start relay on the compressor. let me know what you find thanks Peyton

Refrigerator buzzing for 10 seconds every 4 or 5 minutes

Buzzing is usually a fan, like one in the freezer, or back bottom - for cooling the freon. The compressor over-heat usually will make a single click (off) and a few minutes later a click (on). If the fan in the freezer stops working well, the freezer will frost up and the fridge section will not be cold enough.
