Re: convergence

Remove the front grill. There are 2 screws on each corner accesable from the rear and 2 screws inside the front door. Push down on the grill and it will unsnap. Remove the pressboard coverplate . You should see the convergence board, it is about 12" long with a big aluminum heat sink. The board can be removed by pressing on the tabs that hold it down. Be sure to mark and unplug the molex connectors from the board. One of the connectors has to be unplugged from the chassis because it is fixed to the board. Once removed you can easily get to the IC`s mounted to the heat sink. Check for any burned resistors near the IC`s.( 2.2 ohm likes to burn) The convergence can be done through the customer menu using the remote. There is no special formatting necessary. Use the number pad to navagate and the select key to change red & blue.

This model uses a single convergence IC chip----

The chip needs to be replaced and there are about a dozen light blue resistors in front of it that need to be checked also.

Considering you can buy the part on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping---if you or someone you know can do it for you, you can save the set and a lot of money.

I have done hundreds of these repairs and I have had so many people here asking that I composed step by step-----start to finish instructions for this repair in this set----

The instructions tell you everything you will need to do the repair and are detailed.

I just today received a comment from someone who got the instructions tell me the repair went perfect and he now has a working TV again for a fraction of what a shop wanted to repair it.

If you want the instructions let me know, I am not allowed here to post MY email address, but you.....

If you have any questions or need advice let me know.

I am here to help people, I do this here for free.

I have a Mitsubishi ws-55711 I push the power button and the light goes on for a second and goes out. I did the diagnostic check and it shows 2 blinks then 2 blinks. Do you know if this is the fuses and if...

2,2 is the error code for short protection.

The most common reason for this is one of the 2 pico fuses that protect the convergence circuit is blown. Changing the fuses will not help! They are green in color and soldered into the middle circuit board and are F9a04 and F9a05----look like resistors but are 5 amp fuses.

99% chance if one or both are blown---you have to have someone change the STK-393-110 convergence IC that this set uses----the IC can be purchased on Ebay for under 14 dollars and the same seller sells the pico fuses 5 @ 2.95.

The best thing to do here if you or someone you know is able is to unplug the set and look for the fuses---middle board towards the back---there are 5 of them and the two closest to the back of the row are for the convergence IC----If someone checks them (like testing any other fuse) you will know--if either or both is blown--the convergence IC got them.

I have start to finish, step by step instructions and photos of the fuses etc----If you or someone you know can solder and is handy--you may be able to do the repair yourself.

If not, shops usually charge 300-400 for this kind of repair in this set.
