The 6690s were plagued with computer failures. Sorry, but most likely it is dead and the repair costs far exceed its value.

I have a Viking 6690, it will sew when pedal is pushed but the machine does not turn on.

Not understanding your question. Not sure how the machine sews if it doesn't turn on...

Are you saying the light doesn't come one? If so, the light bulb is probably burned out and needs to be replaced.

How do you wind a bobbin on a Viking 6570 sewing machine?

Unfortunately, I'm unable to locate a web site or video for this beautiful machine. You can get a user manual from Husqvarna/Viking here:

Viking sewing machine 6690 feed dog are frozen down ...how can I fix this

Hello Mary
The Viking 6690 features a 'Presser Foot Pressure Dial' located on the left side of the sewing machine head. It is probably turned down to the thin end of the wedge or may even be parked on the rectangle ... this will cause the feed dogs to stay down. Turn the dial toward the wider part of the wedge symbol. The feed dogs will come up as the sewing machine makes a stitch.

Please let me know how this works out for you.

Happy stitching.

Hello Mary

There may be various reasons for the feed dogs staying down. Let's start with the most obvious ....

I just inherited another Huqvarna (this is a model 630). It was working great until I wound a bobbin on it. After I removed the filled bobbin the machine won't move the needle up and down (but the bobbin...

I do not know the Husqvarna Viking 630. However, I have used the Viking 6690 and it has a similar on-the-side bobbin winding routine. I suspect that you failed to move the bobbin winding mechanism back into the sewing position. Look closely at the area around the bobbin winding spindle. It looks like there is a lever below the spindle. Does this need to be moved or rotated? Double check the steps in the manual and check that you did the opposite steps of preparing to wind the bobbin.

On the 6690, you pull out a knob after removing the bobbin. (You push this piece in and put the bobbin onto the now exposed spindle for winding.)

I hope this helps.

Viking 6690 will only sew in reverse what to do

The reverse mechanism has a tendency to stick in these machines. Unfortunately, putting oil on it will not make it come loose. You need to find an authorized dealer that knows your machine and they can take care of it for you. Some areas of this machine must be disassembled to be cleaned properly.

Raise feed dog

I have a different model Viking with a feed dog button to the left of the power button. When it's pressed down, the feed dog stays in the "down" position. Press it again to bring the feed dog up.

I cleaned my Husqvarna Viking 6690 and now it won't zig zag or do any of the "fancy stitches" on any of my cartridges. The size of the straight stitch is also wrong.

I hate to say it, but the 6690 was plagued with circuit board problems. That machine cost Viking a lot of heartache. I'm a bit surprised to see one still working. You didn't specify exactly what you did when cleaning or whether you took the covers off and disturbed the wiring. Check all the connections and plugs, but it might be dead. You can take it to a Viking dealer with experience with the 6690 for an evaluation.
