Question about Olympus Cameras

1 Answer

First, I am a 1st class amateur, so jargon is ?Greek? to me. However, I am studying the manual dilligently. My question concerns the batteries. I am using Panasonic Heavy Duty AA?s. I am always very quickly getting the message ?Battery empty.?, even when I have just changed batteries. Or there?s always that flashing battery icon on screen, shortly followed by the ?battery empty? screen. Why? I am not using zoom. No repeated shooting. Monitor not left on. Not connected to a computer. MF is not on. I usually shoot in Auto mode, but the shutter speed is so slow I miss my shots. I?d like to try P setting (if that would that speed up the shutter. Would it?), but then the ?Battery empty? screen comes on immediately, even with brand new batteries. Would the A setting speedup the shutters? But A setting gets me only a blank screen. Is there a reason my batteries have such a short life span? The camera is virtually useless to me with this problem. Thanks for helping. Vern81@hotmail.com

It's essential that you state the exact make and model of your camera. But in general many are incompatible with regular AA batteries (even heavy duty ones)and instead require that you use NiMh or even Li-ion rechargeablesinstead. The voltage, internal resistance and discharge characteristicsof these are significantly different to regular disposable AA batteriesand so the camera will report "battery empty" prematurely. Check your manual again and if I've answered your query please return the favour by rating my answer. If not then please add a comment to my posting adding the required info for a definitive answer.

Any frequency over 148.000 i cant talk on, i can just listen. anyone know why?yaesuft1900r

The Yaesu FT1900R is an Amateur (Ham) Radio 2-meter Transceiver. Although the receiver covers from 136-174 MHz, will only transmit from 144-148 MHz. Please note that you do need an Amateur (Technician Class or above) License to transmit on the 2-meter Amateur Band. You no longer need to pass a Morse Code test to get an Amateur License. You still have to pass a written exam, but that isn't difficult if you are willing to study a bit. Contact your local Ham Radio Club or the American Radio Relay League (A.R.R.L.) for more information.

Parapsychology is also known as what?

The term parapsychology was coined in or around 1889 by philosopher Max Dessoir. It was adopted by J.B. Rhine in the 1930s as a replacement for the term psychical research in order to indicate a significant shift toward experimental methodology and academic discipline.[25] The term originates from the Greek: παρ? para meaning "alongside", and psychology.

Parapsychology is the use of scientific methods to study paranormal psychological phenomena, such as extra-sensory perception, psychokinesis, and survival of consciousness after death.

In short, it is the study of paranormal phenomena.
