If you do a "san for hardware changes" in the device manager and the touchpad will not show up it is a hardware problem. Otherwise find the correct drivers for the device and install them. Or check the mouse settings in the control pannel and see if you de selected something there.

How do I unlock my cursor on my laptop when the yellow light on the mouse pad is not on?

Do you have a micro USB device plugged in. Some touch pads automatically disable if you plug in any type of USB mouse device. You can also go into the device manager and uninstall the pad (do not use the delete/remove drivers option), then reboot. Windows will reinstall the device, and sometimes that fixes issues. Or do like it do and use a wireless mouse. I hate those touch pads anyway. ;-)

Hp touch pad not working

It may be disabled. Press the small button just above the touch pad. If still not working, you have to check device manager (driver missing or hardware disabled?). Finally, if still not working, the issue could be inside your laptop. Needs profesional investigation.

How can i make my cursor respond using the inbuilt touch . it stopped and i have to use mouse

You have to reload the software and the drivers for the touch pad. Often the name of the drivers and the program that runs the touch screen may not seem apparent. If you have the disks that came with the computer, start with the drivers and utilities disk and re-install all driver files. That should get the hardware listed. you should also check your device manager (start button, right click computer, click properties, click on hardware tab and then click on device manager) for any yellow or red icons. The device manager will show you on a tree, all the hardware working on your computer.

My cursor does not move with the touchpad, only with the external mouse.

Not sure what OS you have, so I'm giving generic advice here:
under computer management or hardware, launch your Device Manager.
Scroll down the device manager to "mice and pointing devices".
Click the "+" to expand the list.
Find your touchpad on the list and right click it.
Select properties.
In the window, look for a way to enable the device.
Click OK.
It should work.

Touch pad faulty and cursor jumps and cannot read emails, or type replies, using external mouse, but cursor will wandering. Less tha one year old.

Clean your Pad with a moist wet tissue and dry.
In Control Panel -> Devices manager -> uninstall the mouse/pad driver and either use detect new plug-and-play hardware via the top of the tree in the device manager listing (eg. you Computer name) context menu or simply reboot to force a new re-install of the driver for your Pad and Mouse and see if it solves the problem.
If your Pad is the Synaptic type, install your Netbook driver for the Pad.
Hope that re-installing the driver and Pad utility solve your issue let me know how you go.
ps. Worst case, your Aspire One should still be under manufacturer warranty.

Acer aspire touch pad not working

There are many possible fixes. To do some forensic work it would be best to know what was going on when the touch pad stopped working. It could very easily be the driver. You can see if that's it in device manager. Locate your touch pad device there and right-click on the device, choose "update driver".

Some laptops, my Toshiba for instance, have an option to configure the touchpad to disable when it senses a USB mouse or keyboard connecting. I have mine set to disable because when I'm typing on the onboard keyboard and I accidently slightly brush the touchpad, it sends the cursor all over the page and usually I lose everything I just typed.

The problem might also be a matter of a bogus setting in the Service Manager. There are a number of services that are related to your touchpad or mouse.

Cursor Will Not Stay Put

Try uninstalling the drivers from the device manager, then do a hardware search. It will automatically find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers. If this doesn't work, then check the connector under the keyboard. Disconnect it and reconnect it, they sometimes work loose. If these don't correct the problem, then you have a faulty touch pad and you'll have to replace it.
