Question about Maytag EPIC MFW9700S Front Load Washer
I SO have a solution to this problem. My family has owned this washer for about two years and it has had three F21s. Now I don't know if all F21s are the same, but this one worked.
First, take off the bottom front panel by removing the three 1/4" machine screws. The culprit is toward the right front of the washing machine. First I unscrewed the big "thing" and revealed the filter! What a treasure! We found all kinds of things.
Next the pump, just to the right of the filter, needs to be emptied. Disconnect the power to the water pump by unclipping the black wire on the far right. I removed the whole assembly after unclipping the wires and had the filter and pump sitting in my lap. Separate the pump from the filter body and viola, what a disgusting mess. I pulled out the fan blades (pull hard, it's a magnet afterall) to reveal that our pump was impacted with a black nasty sludge that looked like it came from a septic tank. Anyway, I cleaned the water filter, put both parts back together, installed the body, clipped the power back in! This took about 20 minutes and cost -$0-! It worked immediately. I searched for the part online (W10130913 -only $66) and will order a replacement part to install myself. SWEET!

I also did this today and it fixed my issues. My pump motor had a rubber band around it.
