Kv-34hs420 Standby light blinks 6 times. Power supply issues?

My aunt's tv started malfunctioning while I was at her house. I have repaired several other tv's recently, so I'd like to try and fix it within the next 5 days while I'm here. I have read a few different solutions to the problem the tv is displaying.

The tv will either power on and work correctly, or it will power on with sound, but no picture and turn off after 4 seconds. The red standby light will flash 6 times and then repeat the code. After it's been unplugged for a while the tv repeats the process and either comes on or flashes 6 times.

What is the solution to power supply failure? Totally replacing it would be my last resort, but would resoldering the power supply help any? Someone else had mentioned ic8002 (on the DZ board) was the problem.

Let me know, Thank you

    Fixya welcomejee!
Is there an explanation as to why this happened? I'd just like to understand what it was I did to fix the problem. Thanks again.

Actually it did fine for an hour, then 10 minutes ago it turned itself off and on a few times and then stayed on for a minute. Then it turned off and back on one more time and we haven't seen anymore problems since.

Replace IC6501 and IC8002 at same time, both have same number and located parallel on DZ board. Part number is as follows..
670581001 MCZ3001DB

Both chips have protection circuit inside that becomes unstable and start giving unnecessary trouble by shutting down TV that sensed by system control chip to blink front LED.
Hope your TV is working fine.

Green blinking light

Hi,

The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV.
The self-diagnostic function of the projection TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue. As per the two examples below, some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
If the STANDBY light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the TV may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the TV is well ventilated.

If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

I have a Sony Wega KV-34HS420 TV that takes several tries to turn on. When I push the power button or remote power on I hear the normal click and the sound comes on for 3-5 seconds but then I hear a second...

Since the set appears to "recover", it suggests either a poor solder connection or bad cap somewhere in the power supply. The 7 blinks indicate the problem circuit is in the horizontal area. Check the regulator (STRxxxx) IC in the power supply. If you do not have experience working with TVs, please refer this repair to a shop. The regulator IC costs around $25.

My KV-34HS420 won't come on and the Standby light

The system has found issues with your TV.. The only solution is to call in service. Tell them the 6 blinks.. it is a code for diagnostics. Sorry.. the logic portion of the TV is experiencing some kind of breakdown. The only suggestion that I can offer is to hard reset your TV to factory settings.. other than that you are in duck soup..

Sorry...

Sony KV-34HS420 shuts of and stand-by light blinks

  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

Standby LED blinking 6 or 7 times and TV won't turn on

That is an error code that tells the tech where the problem lies. It is probably somewhere in the power supply stage. Your best bet is to take it to a TV repair shoppe and let them deal with it. They have all the documentation in order to repair the unit, and they can tell you what the problem is before they work on it.

Cheers
